Abstract
Instrument for measuring the pressure inside a pipe consists of a pressure sensor which is coupled to an indicating instrument, and to a ring-shaped groove in the wall of the pipe. The open side of the groove faces the inside of the pipe and is separated from it by a ring-shaped diaphragm made from an elastic material. The space encapsulated in the hole and the diaphragm is filled with a liquid. The pressure instrument is fitted where two pipes (1, 2) are joined by flanges (3, 4) tightened by bolts (5). A ring (6) with a ring-shaped cavity (7) is interleaved between the flanges and it is closed off by a jacket (8). The pressure sensor (9) is fitted in a transverse hole (10) of the ring. The internal diameter of the diaphragm is preferably equal to the internal diameter of the pipe, so as to maintain a smooth flow profile.
