Abstract

Contact block for an insulated multi-strand flat cable. It consists of a number of strands contacts which are separately mounted on the strip wire ends of the flat cable and an insulated contact housing whose front section is designed for accepting a row of strand contacts attached to the cable end. The rear part of the housing is designed for holding the cable end behind these contacts. There are two openings (2, 3) at the front separated by two partitions (4, 5). The block is covered with lids (8, 9) via flexible links (6, 7). The covers form the rear section of the housing and are hinged coupled to the front section. The covers can be folded over the contacts and will clamp the cable in such a way that to relieve any tension on the ends.
