Abstract

A device for recording and reproducing images comprises (a) a thermoluminescent screen consisting of a layer of thermoluminescent material on a substrate; (b) a laser source; (c) a device for scanning the screen with the laser beam by deflecting the beam or moving the screen, so that a latent image previously projected on the screen is converted into a series of light signals; (d) a device for detecting these signals; and (e) a device for reproducing these signals in the form of a visible image. The device is esp. useful for medical radiography. The radiation doses and irradiation times required for reproducing X-ray pictures are much lower than those required with conventional radio photographic and X-ray TV devices (e.g. 5 mR compared with 300-400 mR).
