Hair setting prepns. comprise a soln. in water or another solvent of a heteropolysaccharide (xanthane gum). The heteropolysaccharides are known materials made by bacterial fermentation of carbohydrates. Pref. the setting agents are incorporated into shampoo formulations to give simultaneous washing and setting action.
