Abstract

Slag cement having a high CaSO4 content, for use in combination with aggregate and water to form a cement composition, is prepared in situ from granulated blast furnace slag, Portland cement, and waste gypsum such as obtained as a by-product in the phosphoric acid wet process. Blast furnace slag and Portland cement are pref. added in the form of blast furnace cement. Gypsum is preferably added in an amount of 20-40% by wt., calculated as dry CaSO4.2H2O on the total wt. of the composition. The cement may be used for concrete mixtures, cement mortar or cement grout.
