The present invention relates to a yacht.The present invention relates to a yacht.

In conventional yachts, the drives are arranged inside the hull of the yacht, normally under a main deck. Consequently, the drives are difficult to access and hard to replace. Moreover, the drives require space inside said hull, thereby reducing the interior space available for leisure purposes.In conventional yachts, the drives are arranged inside the hull or the yacht, usually under a main deck. Why, the drives are difficult to access and hard to replace. Moreover, the drives require space inside said hull, reducing the interior space available for leisure purposes.

An object of the present invention is to provide a yacht, that is improved relative to the prior art and wherein at least one of the above stated problems is obviated.An object of the present invention is to provide a yacht, that is improved relative to the prior art and that is least one of the above stated problems is obviated.

Said object is achieved with the yacht according to the present invention, comprising:Said object is achieved with the yacht according to the present invention, including:

- a hull;- a hull;

- the hull comprising a bow and a stern;- the hull including a bow and a star;

- a terrace extending from the stern; and- a terrace extending from the stern; and

- a propulsion compartment arranged below the terrace.- a propulsion compartment arranged below the terrace.

According to the invention, the propulsion compartment is arranged underneath a terrace and outside the hull, wherein the terrace extends from the stern of said hull. This has several advantages. To begin with, the terrace extends the waterline of the yacht and in this way reduces fuel consumption over a wide range of speeds. Furthermore, arranging the propulsion compartment outside the hull increases the space available inside said hull for leisure purposes and enhances flexibility of the lay-out configurations inside said hull. Also, arranging the propulsion compartment outside said hull reduces noise inside the hull, caused by the one or more than one drive that is arranged inside the propulsion compartment. This noise reduction inside the hull results in a more comfortable experience for users of the yacht. On top of that, arranging a drive in the yacht, e.g. when building said yacht or when possibly replacing a drive of said yacht, as well as maintenance of said one or more than one drive is simplified, as the drives inside said propulsion compartment are readily accessible without the need to enter the hull. In addition, the terrace provides a functional area that may be used for different purposes. For example, the terrace may be used for extended leisure purposes such as for placing sunbeds close to the waterline, or as a spacious diving platform. For a workboat, the extended terrace may be used as a working platform that is arranged close to the waterline.According to the invention, the propulsion compartment is arranged underneath a terrace and outside the hull, the terrace extends from the tern or said hull. A conventional yacht 1, wherein a drive 2 is arranged inside a hull 3 close to a stern 4, is shown in figure 1. The yacht 1 comprises a conventional terrace 5, that may be used for leisure purposes, such as diving into the water and functioning as a convenient step up to get onto the yacht 1 from the water. 11. A terrace 12 is extending from the stern 11, and a propulsion compartment 13 is arranged below the terrace 12.11. A terrace 12 is extending from the star 11, and a propulsion compartment 13 is arranged below the terrace 12.

The terrace 12 is arranged at a short distance above the waterline 14. In this way the extended terrace 12 provides a functional area that may be used for different purposes. For example, the terrace 12 may be used for extended leisure purposes such as for placing sunbeds 15 close to the waterline 14, or as a spacious diving platform. For a workboat, the extended terrace 12 may be used as a working platform that is arranged close to the waterline. A user may use stairs 19 to go from the superstructure 9 towards the terrace 12 and vice versa. The extended terrace 12 may, in some cases, be accessible from the inside hull 8 directly in front of the terrace 12, via any type of watertight or semi watertight door(s).The terrace 12 is arranged at a short distance above the waterline 14. In this way the extended terrace 12 provides a functional area that may be used for different purposes. For example, the terrace 12 may be used for extended leisure purposes such as placing sunbeds 15 close to the waterline 14, or as a spacious diving platform. For a workboat, the extended terrace 12 may be used as a working platform that is arranged close to the waterline. A user may use stairs 19 to go from the superstructure 9 towards the terrace 12 and vice versa. The extended terrace 12 may, in some cases, be accessible from the inside hull 8 directly in front of the terrace 12, via any type of watertight or semi watertight door (s).

As can be best seen in figures 2 and 3, the terrace 12 is arranged relatively far below an upper side 16 of the hull 3. Typically, the terrace 12 is arranged between the waterline 14 and the upper side 16 of the hull 9, more preferably between the waterline 14 and halfway a distance between the waterline 14 and the upper side 16 of the hull 9.As can be seen in figures 2 and 3, the terrace 12 is arranged relatively far below an upper side 16 of the hull 3. Typically, the terrace 12 is arranged between the waterline 14 and the upper side 16 of the hull 9, more preferably between the waterline 14 and halfway a distance between the waterline 14 and the upper side 16 of the hull 9.

The propulsion compartment 13 houses at least one drive 17, which is preferably an inboard drive. More preferably, the drive 17 comprises at least one of an inboard combustion engine or an inboard electric motor.The propulsion compartment 13 houses at least one drive 17, which is preferably an inboard drive. More preferably, the drive 17 comprises at least one of an inboard combustion engine or an inboard electric motor.

The terrace 12 preferably comprises at least one access hatch 18. Preferably, said propulsion compartment 13 comprises more than one drive, and the terrace 12 more preferably comprises at least one access hatch 18 for each drive 17. In figures 3 and 4, a propulsion compartment 13 housing two drives 17 and having two corresponding access hatches 18, are shown. Preferably, the access hatches 18 comprise a (not shown) watertight seal.The terrace 12 preferably comprises at least one access hatch 18. Preferably, the access hatches 18 include a (not shown) watertight seal.

In the shown embodiment, the terrace 12 is extended to exhibit a size at least corresponding with the dimensions of the at least one drive 17 to be arranged in the propulsion compartment 13. Thus, the terrace 12 extends from the stern 11 at least over a distance corresponding with the size of a drive 17 in the propulsion compartment 13. This one the one hand results in a drive 17 that is readily accessible via the one or more than one access hatches 18 in the terrace 12. On the other hand, this also results in a relatively large size of the terrace 12, allowing the terrace 12 to be used for extended leisure purposes. Contrary to the limited size conventional terraces of conventional yachts, a terrace 12 according to the invention may be used for placing sunbeds 15, or as a spacious diving platform.In the shown embodiment, the terrace 12 is extended to exhibit a size at least corresponding to the dimensions of the least one drive 17 to be arranged in the propulsion compartment 13. Thus, the terrace 12 extends from the star 11 at least over a distance corresponding with the size of a drive 17 in the propulsion compartment 13. This one the one hand results in a drive 17 that is easily accessible through the one or more than one access hatches 18 in the terrace 12. On the other hand, this also results in a relatively large size of the terrace 12, allowing the terrace 12 to be used for extended leisure purposes. Contrary to the limited size conventional terraces or conventional yachts, a terrace 12 according to the invention may be used for placing sunbeds 15, or as a spacious diving platform.
