Abstract

The device comprises a storage container, a pivotable lower support arm and a cutting shield for cutting silage from a supply and/or for inserting silage into the storage container. The shield is connected to the pivot arm and is movable between a cutting position and a processing position. The shield supports a to and fro movable cutting knife on its lower side and has a side cutting member on one or both sides which has a knife carrier and a to and fro side cutting knife. Each knife carrier is pivotably connected to the shield by an axle on its upper side. When the shield moves from the cutting position into the processing position, each knife carrier pivots into the pivot arm side of the shield.
