Abstract

The shelf has two or more panels (1-3) hinging together via bars (4,5) formed by parallel frame members. Hinge components (8) fixed to one panel turn on the bar of the adjacent one. Each component contains grooves in which parts of the bar fit. Each groove contains a narrowed portion clear of its bottom, so as to hold the bar in place. At the narrowed portion, the component is flexible enough for the bar to be moved past it without its permanent distortion or that of the bar, after which the latter will not stick or be held in it. Each component can contain three or more parallel bars, one forming the hinge axis and the others being part of the second panel.
