Abstract
A gravel packing assembly has first (202) and second joints (208) each including a sand control screen assembly (106) having a filter medium positioned exteriorly of a base pipe (108) and a slurry delivery subassembly (118, 152, 172, 192) positioned exteriorly of the sand control screen assembly (106). The slurry delivery subassembly (192) includes at least one transport tube (120, 122, 154, 204, 210) extending longitudinally along at least a portion of the sand control screen assembly (106). At least one jumper tube (214) is coupled to and extends between the at least one transport tube of the first joint (202) and the at least one transport tube of the second joint (208). A jumper tube protection assembly (216) extends between the first (202) and second joints (208) and is positioned exteriorly about the at least one jumper tube (214). (FIG.7D)
