Abstract

An air cleaner (1) includes a blown air passage (8) connecting a suction inlet (3) for sucking air and discharge openings (4; 5) for discharging the air, a blower (10) disposed in the blown air passage (8), a filter unit (9) disposed in the blown air passage (8) so as to collect dust in the air, and a dust sensor for detecting concentration of dust in the air. The air cleaner (1) changes a blower (10) level of the blower (10) among a plurality of levels having different rotational speeds based on a plurality of contamination degrees according to concentration of dust, and sets the blower (10) level to have a higher rotational speed when the contamination degree is higher. The air cleaner (1) extracts concentration of fine particles smaller than a predetermined particle size included in the dust in the air from a result of detection by the dust sensor, and further increases the blower (10) level so that the rotational speed of the blower (10) becomes higher when the concentration of the fine particles is higher with respect to a predetermined contamination degree.
