Abstract

A TOLL SHARING METHOD IS PROVIDED, BY WHICH IT IS POSSIBLE TO APPORTION SHARED TOLLS ONLY ON CALLS SENT FROM TOL AREA(S) PERMITTED BY THE CALLED SIDE, BASED ON CONDITIONS DESIGNATED BY THE CALLED SIDE. IN THE METHOD, TOLL CHARGE INFORMATION RELATING TO A CALLER AND/OR A CALLED PARTY WITH RESPECT TO A COLL IN THE SPECIFIED-TELEPHONE-NUMBER CONNECTION IS PROVIOUSLY REGISTERED IN A CONTROL STATION OR THE LIKE, AND THE TOLL IS SHARED BETWEEN THE CALLER AND THE CALLED PARTY BASED ON THE TOLL CHARGE INFORMATION. SPECIFIC EXAMPLES ARE: THE POINT TOLL-SHARING METHOD IN WHICH WHEN THE ACTUAL CALLED PARTY IS CHANGED FROM THE ORIGINALLY EXPECTED CALLED PARTY, IF A TOLL RELATING TO THE CALLED PARTY AFTER THE CHANGE BECOMES HIGHER THAN A TOLL RELATING TO THE ORIGINAL CALLED PARTY, THEN A SHARE FROM THE CALLER TO THE ORIGINAL CALLED PARTY IS CHARGED TO THE CALLER SIDE AND ONLY A SHARE CORRESPONDING TO THE SHORTFALL IS PAID BY THE CALLED SIDE; THE CALLED PARTY SELECTIVITY CHARGED METHOD IN WHICH EITHER THE CALLER OR THE CALLED PARTY PAYS THE TOLL BASED ON INFORMATION REGISTERED IN THE CONTROL STATION; AND THE MBI TOLL SHARING METHOD IN WHICH THE TOLL IS SHARED BASED ON THE MESSAGE BILLING INDEX (MBI)(FIG.1)
