Abstract

A PROCESS OF MAKING MULCH MATS FROM OIL EFB IS DISCLOSED. OIL PALM EFB ARE FIRST SHREDDED AND CONVERTED INTO SEMI-FIBROUS MATERIAL. BIODEGRADABLE BINDERS AND OTHER CHEMICALS INCLUDING TIME-RELEASE FERTILISERS AND HERBICIDES ARE ADDED TO THE SEMI-FIBROUS MATERIAL. THE TREATED SEMI-FIBROUS MATERIAL ARE PRESSED INTO MOULDS TO FORM MULCH MATS OF VARIOUS SIZES, SHAPES AND THICKNESS. ONE-PIECE AND TWO-PIECE MULCH MATS ARE PREFERRED ACCORDING TO THE TEACHINGS OF THE INVENTION. (FIG. 1)
