Abstract
Se describen los metodos y aparatos para determinar la posicion de una estacion movil en un sistema de comunicacion inalambrica. Una estacion movil del sistema inalambrico incluye un circuito generador de eco silencioso el cual recibe un reloj fechador de transmision transmitido en un canal de sincronizacion desde una estacion base, y procesa el reloj fechador de transmision para generar un reloj fechador de recepcion. El circuito generador de eco silencioso transmite el reloj fechador de recepcion de regreso a la estacion base sobre un portador de eco similar a una senal espuria el cual se deriva de un portador de datos del sistema inalambrico. La estacion base procesa los relojes fechadores de transmision y recepcion para calcular un primer valor de intervalo, recibe el segundo y tercer valores de intervalo correspondientes calculados por la otras dos estaciones bases del sistema las cuales reciben el portador del eco y su reloj fechador, y procesa el primer, segundo y tercer valores de intervalo para determinar un vector de posicion indicativo de la posicion de la estacion movil. La estacion base procesa entonces ademas el vector de posicion para determinar el rumbo del vector, y convierte el resultado en coordenadas de latitud y longitud de la posicion de la estacion movil. El circuito generador de eco silencioso proporciona la capacidad de determinacion de la posicion movil en el sistema inalambrico sin incrementar significativamente el costo, tamano, peso y consumo de energia de la estacion movil, sin requerir una interfaz de usuario de varias capas, y sin degradar la calidad de la voz del sistema.
