Abstract

En un aspecto se proporciona una célula vegetal mutante, de origen no natural o transgénica que comprende: (i) un polinucleótido que comprende, que consiste o que consiste esencialmente en una secuencia que codifica un miembro de la familia CLC de canales de cloruro y que tiene al menos 60% de identidad de secuencia con la SEQ ID NO:1 o la SEQ ID NO:2 o la SEQ ID NO:3 o la SEQ ID NO:4 o la SEQ ID NO:10 o la SEQ NO ID:11; (ii) un polipéptido codificado por el polinucleótido que se expone en (i); (iii) un polipéptido que comprende, que consiste o que consiste esencialmente en una secuencia que codifica un miembro de la familia CLC de canales de cloruro y que tiene al menos 60 % de identidad de secuencia con la SEQ ID NO:5 o la SEQ ID NO:6 o la SEQ ID NO:7 o la SEQ ID NO:12 o la SEQ ID NO:13 o la SEQ NO ID:14; o (iv) un constructo, vector o vector de expresión que comprende el polinucleótido aislado que se expone en (i); y en donde la expresión o actividad del polinucleótido o el polipéptido está modulada en comparación con una planta control y en donde los niveles de nitrato en la planta mutante, de origen no natural o transgénica que contiene la célula vegetal mutante, de origen no natural o trangénica están modulados en comparación con la planta control que contiene la célula vegetal control.
