Abstract
Un dispositivo de compresión es usado para incrementar la presión intraluminal dentro del esfínter esofágico superior de un paciente con el propósito de liberar un impacto de la anatomía, fisiología o funcionalidad anormal o defectuosa del esfínter esofágico superior. En una implementación, el dispositivo de compresión es usado en conjunto con un dispositivo de detección de presión externa para determinar la presión externa que será aplicada al cricoides para un paciente específico. El dispositivo de compresión puede ser un medio para el manejo y/o tratamiento de la funcionalidad anormal del esfínter esofágico superior, o puede ser un medio para el reforzamiento del esfínter esofágico de un sujeto, o un medio para curar la enfermedad de reflujo esofágico de un sujeto, o un medio para mejorar la función vocal en un sujeto, o un medio para el manejo de la aspiración de pulmón, un medio para aplicar la presión de cricoides durante la intubación de anestesia, o un medio para estabilizar las estructuras corporales tal como durante la formación de imagen médica o el tratamiento de radiación.
