Abstract
Un aparato de calentamiento de fluido tiene una trayectoria de flujo de fluido desde una entrada a una salida, con múltiples secciones de calentamiento colocadas a lo largo de la trayectoria de flujo; cada sección de calentamiento es al menos un par de electrodos entre los cuales pasa una corriente eléctrica a través del fluido para calentar de manera resistiva el fluido durante su paso a lo largo de la trayectoria de flujo; al menos una de las secciones de calentamiento tiene un electrodo segmentado formado de una pluralidad de segmentos eléctricamente separables; esto permite que un área activa efectiva del electrodo segmentado sea controlada mediante la activación selectiva de los segmentos; un controlador determina un voltaje requerido y la corriente que va a ser entregada al fluido por cada sección de calentamiento, y permite conductividad de entrada así como variaciones en la conductividad del fluido con temperatura; el controlador activa segmentos seleccionados del electrodo segmentado para efectuar la entrega de corriente deseada y voltaje por el electrodo segmentado al fluido.
