Abstract

Se presentan composiciones azeotrópicas y de tipo azeótropo de yoduro de metilo y por lo menos un fluorocarbono o hidrofluorocarbono tales como 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropano (HFC-245fa). Las composiciones están presentes en formas de un gas a temperaturas de aproximadamente 30°C o menos. Las composiciones de la presente invención sirven como fumigante gaseoso no agotador de la capa de ozono que es útil en varias aplicaciones, en lugar de bromuro de metilo. Estas composiciones sirven como un reemplazo del bromuro de metilo gaseoso, proporcionando los beneficios de un fumigante de yoduro de metilo mientras utilizan también equipos existentes para bromuro de metilo.
