Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un metodo para recuperar petróleo de un depósito subterráneo que lo contiene, que comprende inyectar una solución polimerica acuosa en un área del depósito al menos a traves de un pozo de alimentación, para provocar que el petróleo fluya desde el área, para su recolección al menos a traves de un pozo de salida, la mejora se caracteriza porque comprende mantener y controlar la viscosidad de la solución, empleando en la ausencia substancial de oxígeno, un homopolímero soluble en agua de ácido 2-acrilamido-2-metilpropansulfónico o su sal o un copolímero de aproximadamente 20 a 99 por ciento en peso de ácido 2-acrilamido-2-metilpropansulfónico o su sal y aproximadamente 1 a 80 por ciento en peso de N,N-di-metilacrilamida, siendo la temperatura en el depósito que contiene petróleo, de al menos 100 grados C.
