Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a método para producir un cuerpo compuesto autoportante, CARACTERIZADO porque comprende: seleccionar un metal madre; calentar dicho metal madre en una atmósfera sustancialmente inerte hasta una temperatura por sobre su punto de fusión para formar un cuerpo de metal madre en fusión y poner en contacto dicho cuerpo de metal madre en fusión con una masa que comprende carburo de boro y por lo menos un aditivo seleccionado a partir del grupo que consiste en carburo de tantalio, carburo de zirconio y diboruro de zirconio; mantener dicha temperatura por un tiempo suficiente para permitir la infiltración de dicho metal madre fundido dentro de dicha masa y para permitir la reacción de dicho metal madre en fusión con dicho carburo para formar por lo menos un compuesto que contiene boro; y continuar dicha reacción de infiltración por un tiempo suficiente para producir dicho cuerpo autoportante que comprende por lo menos un compuesto de metal madre que contiene boro.
