Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para producir un artículo resistente al desgaste, caracterizado en que comprende los pasos de: proporcionar un material no amorfo, transformable friccionalmente, sobre al menos una porción de la superficie del artículo, en donde el material no amorfo consta esencialmente de: un primer componente, seleccionado del grupo que consta de hierro y combinaciones de hierro y cobalto, dicho primer componente estando presente en una cantidad de 40 a 75 por ciento en peso, aproximadamente, un segundo componente, seleccionado del grupo que consta de tungsteno, molibdeno, cromo, niobio, vanadio y combinaciones de tungsteno, molibdeno, cromo, niobio, vanadio y titanio, dicho segundo componente estando presente en una cantidad de un 20 por ciento en peso, y un tercer componente seleccionado del grupo que consta de boro, carbono y sus combinaciones, dicho terrcer componente estando presente en una cantidad de 2 a 6 por ciento en peso, aproximadamente; y transformar al menos una porción de la capa más externa del material no amorfo, transformable friccionalmente, al estado amorfo, sometiendo el material a fuerzas friccionales suficientemente severas.
