Page 1 CONTINUOUS PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING PURE TEREPHTHALIC ACID AND GLYCOL STARTING FROM POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE WASTE of the invention A procedure is described to obtain pure terephthalic acid and glycol, which consists in carrying out, in a continuous manner and in the presence of decolorizing carbon, an aqueous and neutral hydrolysis of polyethylene terephthalate waste, under high temperature and pressure conditions, continuously filtering the product at the hydrolysis temperature and crystallizing the terephthalic acid, while the mother liquors are subjected to distillation in order to obtain the glycol.
