Abstract
The invention relates to biotechnology, in particular to a method for determining the activity of catalase and can be used in biochemical research, as well as to control the technological process of catalase preparation in the microbiological industry.Summary of the method consists in that the biological material is introduced into a mixture containing: 0.05 M of phosphate buffer, 0.06% of hydrogen peroxide and 5 mM of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, then the mixture is incubated at the temperature of 25°C and is determined spectrophotometrically the optical density of the reaction product in relation to phosphate buffer solution, the measurements are performed at a wavelength of 240 nm at the beginning of the reaction and in 15 seconds, and the activity of catalase is defined in accordance with the established formula.
