본 발명은 양방향 멀티미디어 단말기의 중요요소인 사용자와 서비스 공급자간의 대화(interactive)기능을 지원하는 그래픽 유저 인터페이스(Graphical User Interface : GUI)에 관한 것으로, 특히 그래픽 유저인터페이스의 배경화면을 사용자의 선택에 따라 꾸밀수 있도록 하는 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 변환 장치의 구성요소로는 시스템 부팅을 위한 롬(200)과; 서버로부터 다운로드받는 입출력 버퍼부(300); 영상데이터를 저장하는 램(RAM)형태의 그래픽 메모리(400); 메모리 직접 접근(DMA)기능을 갖춘 메인 프로세서(500); 시스템 포인터제어부(600); 그래픽처리하는 그래픽 프로세서(700); 및 비디오 버퍼부(800)로 구성되어 있으며, 변환 방법은 사용자의 선택에 따라 GUI환경의 배경 화면을 서버로부터 다운로드 받아 램의 형태로 저장된 프레임을 기준으로하여 배경 화면을 사용자의 취향에 맞게 꾸밀수 있도록하여 사용자가 느꼈던 지루함을 해소시키고, 또한 메모리 직접 접근 방식을 채택함으로써 고속의 화면 변환이 가능한 효과가 있다.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1.
