본 발명은 스테레오 오디오 신호를 부호화 하는 장치에 관한 것으로서, 소정 비트 단위의 비트 스트림으로 인가되는 좌 및 우측 오디오 신호를 최상위 비트로부터 서로 비교하여 상기 좌측 및 우측 오디오 신호의 비트 값들이 최상위 비트로부터 연속적으로 서로 동일한 값을 갖는 일련의 비트 값들만을 스캐일팩터로서 출력하는 스캐일팩터 검출부(1)와; 상기 스캐일팩터 검출부(1)로부터 검출된 상기 스캐일팩터들 및 상기 스캐일팩터에 해당되지 않는 상기 좌·우측 오디오 신호의 나머지 비트 값들을 순차적으로 출력하는 코드 발생 회로(2)와; 상기 스케일 팩터의 비트 수를 알리는 헤더를 생성하는 헤더 발생부(3)와; 상기 코드 발생 회로(2) 및 헤더 발생부(3)의 비트 값들을 합성하여 송신하는 합성부(4)클 구비한다.The present invention relates to an apparatus for encoding a stereo audio signal, wherein the left and right audio signals applied to a bit stream of a predetermined bit unit are compared with each other from the most significant bit, so that the bit values of the left and right audio signals are continuously from the most significant bit.
