본 발명은 전기 접속기에 관한 것으로, 더 구체적으로는, 순응 부분(compliant section)을 가진 전기 접속기에 관한 것이다. 더욱 상세하게는, 본 발명은 인쇄회로판의 도금된 관통 구멍에 압입 끼워맞춤되는 전기 접속기에 관한 것이다.
최선 전자 장치는 도금된 관통 구멍들을 가진 인쇄회로판을 광범위하게 사용한다. 전기 접속기를 이러한 구멍에 납땜하는 것과는 달리, 마찰만으로 구멍에 결합하는 접속기들이 제안되었다. 그러한 접속기들은 일반적으로 양호한 기계적 및 전기적 접속을 제공하도록 결합되는 순응 부분을 가진다. 그러한 접속기들이 제거되고 교체될 때, 도금된 관통 구멍에 대한 손상이 최소화되게 하는 것이 바람직하다. 일반적으로 사용되는 순응 접속기들은 미합중국 특허 제 3,545,080호; 제 3,634,819호; 및 4,206,964호에 개시된 것과 같은 바늘귀 (eye-of-the-needle)방식 : 미합중국 특허 제 4,066,326호; 제 4,186,982호; 및 4,443,053호에 개시된 것과 같은 분할 빔(split beam)방식 : 그리고 미합중국 특허 제 4,076,356호에 나타난 C자형 부분과 같은 여러 가지 형태를 취한다. 그밖의 기술에서는, 도금된 관통 구멍의 직경보다 큰 대각선 길이를 가지는 사각형의 도금된 관통구멍 결합부를 가진 곧은 핀이 사용된다. 곧은 핀방식은 도금에 상당한 손상을 주게되어 다양한 적용 분야에 적당하지 못하다.
이런 기술들중 몇가지가 어느정도 사용되지만, 그들 모두 하나 이상의 문제점들을 가진다. 즉, 제조 비용이 과다하고, 도금된 관통 구멍과의 만족스러운 기체 밀봉을 달성하지 못하며, 삽입과 제거가 어렵다.
본 발명은 상기한 바와 같은 종래 기술의 문제점들을 제거하는데 그 목적이 있다.
본 발명의 다른 목적은 도금된 관통 구멍에서의 전기적 접속을 향상시키는 데 있다.
본 발명의 또 다른 목적은 상기 목적들을 달성하고 또한 도금 손상이 최소인 채로 용이하게 삽입 및 제거되는, 도금된 관통 구멍용 전기 접속기를 제공하는 것이다.
이러한 목적들을 달성하기 위해, 본 발명의 일 양태에 따라 제공된 전기 접속기는, 종축선이 있고 단단한 제1부분을 포함하는 몸체로 구성된다. 이 제1부분은, 종축선을 따라 측정된 소정의 종방향 길이를 가지고, 상기 종축선을 중심으로 대향 배치된 2개의 대략 T자형의 세그먼트들을 제공하도록 형성된 순응 부분에 연결되어 있다. 세그먼트들은, 서로로부터 치우쳐 있는 다리 부분들과 상기 종축선에 횡방향으로 궁형인 외측면을 가진 마아(bar)부분들을 포함한다.
이 접속기는 도금된 관통 구멍과의 양호한 기계적 및 전기적 접속을 제공한다.
첨부된 도면을 참조하여 본 발명을 상세히 설명하면 다음과 같다.
제1도에는 종축선(12)을 가진 전기 접속기(10)가 도시되어 있다. 이 전기 접속기(10)는, 단단하고 서로 떨어져 있는 제1단부(14)와 제2단부(16)를 가지고 있다. 이들 단부들은 그들의 기능적인 종단부들에서 원하는 다양한 형태를 갖출 수 있다. 예를 들어, 제1단부(14)는 인쇄 회로판과 접촉하는 형태를 취할 수 있고, 제2단부(16)는 와이어 감음 단자(wire wrap terminal)의 형태를 취할 수 있다.
떨어져 있는 제1 및 제2단부들(14, 16)은, 종축선(12)을 따라 측정된 소정의 종방향 길이(20)를 가지는 순응 부분(18)에 의하여 분리되고 그 순응 부부에 연결되어 있다. 그 순응 부분은, 종축선(12)을 중심으로 대향 배치된 2개의 대략 T자형의 세그먼트들(22, 24)을 제공하도록 형성된다. 세그먼트들(22, 24)은, 서로로부터 치우쳐 있는 다리 부분들(26, 28)과, 그 다리 부분들과 일체인 바아(bar)부분들(30, 32)을 각각 가진다. 바아 부분들(30, 32)의 외측면들(34, 36)은 종축선(12)에 횡방향으로 궁형을 이룬다.
궁형의 외측면들(34, 36)의 반경은 이 전기 접속기(10)가 삽입되는 도금된 관통 구멍의 반경과 거의 같은 것이 바람직하다. 마찬가지로, 소정의 종방향 길이(20)는 상기 도금된 관통 구멍이 있는 판의 두께와 거의 같다.
순응 부분(18)은 그의 외측면이 제1도에서 볼 수 있는 것처럼 종축선(12)을 따라서도 궁형으로 되어 있다. 단단한 제1단부로부터 최대폭을 거쳐 단단한 제2단부까지 연장하는 이 종방향의 궁형면은, 구멍의 손상을 야기 할 수 있는 날카로운 모서리나 구석이 없는 매끄러운 과도지역을 제공한다.
제1 및 제2단부들(14, 16)은 원하는 어떠한 형태의 단면도 가능하지만, 바람직한 단면 형태는 정사각형이다. 바람직한 실시예에서, 이 전기 접속기(10)는 각 변의 길이가 0.635mm(0.025인치)인 정사각형 와이어로 만들어진다. 적당한 재료는 인청동이다. 순응 부분(18)의 폭은, 지경이 1.016mm(0.040인치)인 도금된 관통 구멍에 삽입되도록 최대폭에서 약 1.168mm(0.046인치)이다. 그래서, 궁형의 외측면들(34, 36)의 반경은 약 0.508mm(0.020인치)이다.
제4도는 인쇄회로판(40)에 형성된 도금된 관통 구멍(38)에 삽입된 전기 접속기(10)의 순응 부분(18)을 단면도로 나타내는데, T자형 부분들이 사실상 균일하게 압축되고, 도금된 관통 구멍(38)과 양호한 전기적 및 기계적 접속이 이루어짐을 나타낸다.
다리 부분들(26, 28)이 서로 치우쳐 배치되기 때문에, T자형의 세그먼트들(22, 24)은 다리 부분들(26, 28)의 내측면들(42, 44)이 그들 길이의 대부분에 걸쳐 접촉하지 않고도 서로의 쪽으로 압축될 수 있어서, 그 부분의 스프링 작용을 저해하거나 극도로 제한하는 마찰편이 발생하는 것을 방지한다.
상기한 기술은 압입 끼워맞춤 접속기의 기술을 크게 향상시킨다. 즉, 본 발명은 제조가 간단하고 경제적이며, 삽입 및 제거가 쉽고, 도금된 관통 구멍에 대한 손상이 최소화되며, 양호한 전기적 및 기계적 접속을 달성하는 전기 접속기를 제공한다.
Claims (7)
- 서로 떨어져 있고 단단한 제1 및 제2부분들을 가지며 종축선이 있는 몸체로 구성되는 전기 접속기로서, 상기 제1 및 제2부분들은 상기 종축선을 따라 측정된 소정의 종방향 길이를 갖는 순응 부분에 의해 분리되고 이 순응 부분에 연결되며, 상기 순응 부분은 상기 종축선을 중심으로 대향 배치된 2개의 대략 T자형 세그먼트들을 제공하도록 형성되고, 상기 세그먼트들은 서로로부터 치우쳐 있는 다리 부분들과 상기 종축선에 횡방향으로 궁형인 외측면을 가진 바아 부분들을 포함하는 전기 접속기.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 순응 부분이 상기 종축선을 따라 궁형면을 가지는 전기 접속기.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 제1 및 제2부분들의 단면이 사각형인 전기 접속기.
- 제3항에 있어서, 이 접속기는 소정 두께를 갖는 판의 도금된 관통 구멍 안에 삽입되도록 형성되고, 상기 소정의 종방향 길이가 상기 소정 두께와 같은 전기 접속기.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 제1 및 제2부분들의 단면이 정사각형인 전기 접속기.
- 종축선을 가지며 그 종축선을 따라 측정된 소정의 종방향 길이를 가진 순응 부분에 연결된 단단한 제1부분이 있는 몸체로 구성되는 전기 접속기로서, 상기 순응 부분은 상기 종축선을 중심으로 대향 배치된 2개의 대략 T자형의 세그먼트들을 제공하도록 형성되고, 상기 세그먼트들은, 서로로부터 치우쳐 있는 다리 부분들과 상기 종축선에 횡방향으로 궁형인 외측면을 가진 바아 부분들을 포함하는 전기 접속기.
- 제4항에 있어서, 상기 도금된 관통 구멍이 소정 반경을 가지며, 상기 바아 부분들의 궁형 외측면들의 반경이 상기 소정 반경과 사실상 같은 전기 접속기.
