Abstract
본 발명은 광디스크시스템에 있어서 레이저 다이오드 파워 콘트롤방법 및 회로에 관한 것이다. 이를 위하여 광원으로 레이저 다이오드를 사용하고, 상기 레이저 다이오드에서 나오는 광을 감지하는 수단으로 포토다이오드를 구비한 광디스크시스템에 있어서, 기록모드일 경우에는 상기 포토다이오드에서 출력되는 전류가 제2소정의 기록이득에 의해 전압으로 변환하고, 독출모드일 경우 상기 포토다이오드에서 출력되는 전류가 제1소정의 독출이득에 의해 전압으로 변환하는 전류/전압 변환부와, 광디스크에 기록하고자 하는 데이터의 상승에지 및 하강에지를 검출하기 위한 에지검출부와, 기록모드일 경우 상기 에지검출부에서 검출된 상기 데이터의 상승에지에서 제2소정시간동안 상기 전류전압변환부의 출력값을 샘플링하여 홀딩하고, 독출모드일 경우 상기 에지검출부에서 검출된 상기 데이터의 하강에지에서 제1소정시간동안 상기 전류전압 변환부의 출력값을 샘플링하여 홀딩하는 샘플홀드부와, 상기 샘플홀드부의 출력값을 디지털신호로 변환하기 위한 아날로그/디지털 변환부와, 상기 아날로그/디지털 변환부의 출력값으로부터 상기 레이저 다이오드의 광량을 모니터하고, 모니터값과 미리 설정된 값과의 차이값만큼을 보정해 주도록 제어하는 프로세서와, 상기 프로세서로부터 출력되는 기록파워의 차이값에 해당하는 만큼의 전류를 상기 레이저 다이오드에 인가함으로써 상기 기록파워를 보정해주기 위한 기록파워조정수단과, 상기 프로세서로부터 출력되는 독출파워의 차이값에 해당하는 만큼의 전류를 상기 레이저 다이오드에 인가함으로써 상기 독출파워를 보정해주기 위한 독출파워조정수단으로 구성된다. 따라서 레이저 다이오드의 온도 상승 등으로 인한 파워 변동을 정확히 보상해 줄 수 있는 이점이 있다.The present invention relates to a laser diode power control method and circuit in an optical disc system.
