본 발명은 적응적 전처리를 행하는 영상 부호화 장치에 관한 것으로, 입력되는 화상 신호의 복잡도를 산출하여 기설정된 임계(threshold)값과 비교한 후 입력화상의 복잡도가 기설정된 임계값보다 더 큰가 또는 같거나 작은가에 대응하는 제1 및 제2신호를 발생하는 화상 복잡도 분석 수단(70)의 출력신호에 응답하여 부호화하는 적응적 전처리 기능을 갖는 영상 부호화 장치에 있어서, 상기 화상 복잡도 분석 수단(70)에서 출력하는 신호가 제1신호인 경우에 현재 프레임내의 공간상으로의 성능을 개선하기 위해 소정만큼 열화시켜 부호화하도록 공간축으로 전처리 하는 공간 필터 수단(26)과; 상기 화상 복잡도 분석 수단(70)에서 출력하는 신호가 제2신호인 경우에 다수 프레임을 통해 시간상으로의 성능을 개선하기 위해 시간축으로 전처리하는 시간 필터 수단(24)과; 상기 화상 복잡도 분석 수단(70)에서 출력하는 신혹 제1신호인 경우에는 상기 입력 화상을 상기 공간 필터 수단(26)의 입력단(22)으로 접속시키며, 출력하는 신호가 제2신호인 경우에는 상기 입력 화상을 상기 시간 필터 수단(24)의 입력단(21)으로 접속시키는 스위칭 수단(10)으로 이루어진다.The present invention relates to an image encoding apparatus that performs adaptive preprocessing, wherein the complexity of an input image signal is calculated and compared with a preset threshold, and the complexity of the input image is greater than or equal to the preset threshold.
