Abstract

패킷(packet) 통신 시스템은 두개의 다른 프로토콜들(protocols)에 의해 처리되는 패킷 헤더(header)에서 경로 필드(routing field)를 사용하여 포인트 대 포인트(point-to-point) 패킷 경로 및 방송(broadcast) 패킷경로를 네트워크에서 제한된 노드들의 서브셋들(subsets)에게 제공한다. 제3프로토콜은, 서브셋의 구성원이 아닌 노드로부터 개시되는 경우라도 방송패킷을 제한된 서브셋에 제공된다. 경로필드는 패킷을 방송 서브셋에 전달하는데 필요한 경로 레이블들을 포함하는 제1부분을 포함한다. 경로 필드의 제2부분은 방송 서브셋 식별지를 포함하며, 방송 서브셋 식별자는 패킷을 방송 서브셋의 모든 구성원들에게 전송하는데 사용된다. 그 마지막 노드가 서브셋 구성된 자체이면, 패킷을 방송 서브셋 전에 식별된 마지막 노드에 전송하기 위해 공급이 이루어진다.

Description

패킷전송시스템 및 패킷교환포인트와, 패킷 경로지정방법 및 데이타 패킷 경로지정방법

제1도는 본 발명의 경로지정(routing) 기술들(techniques)이 사용된 패킷통신시스템(packer communication system)의 일반적인 블록도. 제2도는 제1도의 통신 시스템의 전형적인 패킷 네트워크 결정 포인트(decision point)의 일반적인 블럭도. 제3도는 제1도에 도시된 전송 시스템에서, 전송된 패킷에 대한 전형적인 헤더를 그래픽으로 표현한 도면. 제4도는 제3도의 헤더에서, 자동 네트워크 경로(Automatic Network Routing : ANR) 필드를 그래픽으로 표현한 도면. 제5도는 제3도의 헤더에서, 멀티캐스트 트리 경로(Multicast Tree Routing) 필드 및 멀티캐스트 트리 변환경로(Multicast Tree Transition Routing) 필드를 그래픽으로 표현한 도면. 제6도는 본 발명에 따라 원격 액세스를 멀티캐스트 트리 경로(Remote Access to Multicast Tree routing) 필드에 그래픽으로 표현한 도면. 제7도는 전형적인 멀티캐스트 트리가 실선으로 도시되고 시스템의 균형(balance)이 점선으로 도시된 제1도의 패킷 통신 시스템의 일반적인 블럭도, 제8도는 제3도 내지 6도의 경로필드 사용 및, 멀티캐스트 트리 변환 모드 프로토콜(protocol)을 사용하는 제1도의 패킷 네트워크에 대한 패킷 경로 프로토콜의 한 세트의 순서도, 제9도는 제3도 내지 6도의 경로필드를 사용하지만, 엔트리(entry)에 있는 어느 변환 모드 프로토콜을 멀티캐스트 트리에 질의하지 못하는 제1도의 패킷 네트워크에 대한 패킷 경로 프로토콜들의 다른 세트의 순서도.

Claims (16)

  1. 헤더(a header)를 포함한 디지탈 데이타 패킷들의 패킷 전송 시스템(packet transmission system)에 있어서, 상기 시스템은 : 다수의 경로지정 결정 포인트(routing decision point)와, 상기 결정 포인트를 상호 결합하는 다수의 전송 링크를 포함하며, 각각의 상기 결정 포인트는, 결합된 결정 포인트로 부터 다수의 패킷들을 수신하는 수단과, 결합된 결정 포인트에 다수의 패킷들을 전송하는 수단과, 상기 수산수단으로부터 상기 전송수단으로 패킷들을 선택적으로 전송하는 교환(switching) 수단과, 상기 교환수단을 제어하는 경로(route) 제어수단을 포함하고, 상기 경로제어 수단은 상기 헤더의 제1부분의 전송 링크 레이블(labels)에 응답하여 상기 전송 링크들중 하나의 링크상에서 상기 패킷을 전송하기 위한 수단과, 상기 헤더의 제2부분의 멀티캐스트 멀티캐스트 트리 주소에 응답하여 상기 멀티캐스트(multicast) 트리의 부분을 형성하는 다수의 상기 전송 링크상에서 상기 패킷을 전송하기 위한 수단을 포함하는 패킷 전송 시스템.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 경로 제어수단은 상기 헤더내의 필드종료(end of field) 플래그(flag)에 응답하여 자동네트워크 경로 지정(automatic network routing) 모드에서 멀니캐스트 트리 경로 지정(multicast tree routing) 모드로 상기 헤더를 처리하는 모드를 변경하기 위한 수단을 더 포함하는 패킷 전송 시스템.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 경로 제어수단은, 엔트리 전송 링크가 상기 결정 포인트로서 동일한 멀티캐스트 트리에 포함될 때 상기 패킷이 수신되는 상기 엔트리 전송 링크상에서 상기 피캣을 전송하는 수단을 더 포함하는 패킷 전송 시스템.
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 경로 제어수단은, 상기 엔트리 전송 링크 바로 전의 결정 포인트에서 상기 헤더로부터 상기 엔트리 전송 링크의 식별을 제거하는 수단을 더 포함하는 패킷 전송 시스템.
  5. 헤더를 포함한 디지탈 데이타 패킷들의 패킷 전송시스템에서 패킷들을 경로지정하는 방법에 있어서, 상기 방법은 : 상기 헤더의 제1부분에 있는 링크 레이블에 응답하여 상기 시스템의 단일 전송 링크상에 패킷을 전송하는 단계와, 상기 헤더의 제2부분에 있는 멀티캐스트 트리 주소에 응답하여 상기 시스템의 다수의 상기 전송 링크들상에서 패킷을 전송하는 단계를 포함하는 패킷들을 경로지정하는 방법.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 전송단계는, 상기 헤더의 필드 종료 플래그에 응답하여 자동네트워크 경로 모드에서 멀티캐스트 트리 경로 모드로 상기 헤더를 처리하는 모드를 변경하는 단계를 더 포함하는 패킷들을 경로지정하는 방법.
  7. 제6항에 있어서, 다수의 전송 링크상에서 패킷들을 전송하는 상기 딘계는, 엔트리 전송 링크가 동일한 멀티캐스트 트리에 포함될 때 상기 패킷이 수신되는 상기 엔트리 전송 링크상에서 상기 패킷을 전송하는 단계를 더 포함하는 패킷들을 경로지정하는 방법.
  8. 제7항에 있어서, 상기 엔트리 전송 링크내에 엔트리하기 전에 상기 헤더로부터 상기 엔트리 전송 링크의 식별을 제거하는 단계를 더 포함하는 패킷들을 경로지정하는 방법.
  9. 경로지정 레이블들을 포함한 헤더들을 가진 데이타 패킷들을 전송하는 패킷 전송 시스템의 패킷 교환 포인트(packet switching point)에 있어서, 상기 패킷 교환 포인트는 : 상기 헤더의 제1부분에 응답하여 각각의 상기 패킷을 단일 수신지(a single destination)에 진행시키기 위한 수단과, 상기 헤더의 제2부분에 응답하여 각각의 상기 패킷을 다수의 다른 수신지에 동시에 진행시키기 위한 수단을 포함하는 패킷교환포인트.
  10. 제9항에 있어서, 상기 헤더의 플래그에 응답하여 단일 수신지 모드에서 다수의 다른 수신지 모드로 상기 패킷을 진행시키는 모드를 변경하기 위한 수단을 포함하는 패킷교환포인트.
  11. 제10항에 있어서, 상기 패킷이 수신된 엔트리 전송 링크상에 상기 패킷을 전송하는 수단을 포함하는 패킷교환포인트.
  12. 제11항에 있어서, 상기 엔트리 전송 링크상에 상기 패킷을 전송하기 전에 상기 헤더로부터 상기 엔트리 전송 링크의 레이블을 제거하는 수단을 더 포함하는 패킷교환포인트.
  13. 패킷 전송시스템에서 경로지정 레이블을 포함하는 헤더들을 가진 데이타 패킷들을 경로지정하는 방법에 있어서, 상기 방법은, 상기 헤더의 제1부분에 응답하여 각각의 상기 패킷을 단일 수신지에 진행시키는 단계와, 상기 헤더의 제2부분에 응답하여 각각의 상기 패킷을 다수의 상이한 수신지에 동시에 진행시키는 단계를 더 포함하는 데이타 패킷들을 경로지정하는 방법.
  14. 제13항에 있어서, 상기 헤더의 플래그에 응답하여 단일 수신지 모드에서 다수의 상이한 수신지 모드로 상기 패킷을 진행시키는 모드 변경 단계를 더 포함하는 패킷들을 경로지정하는 방법.
  15. 제14항에 있어서, 상기 패킷이 수신된 엔트리 전송 링크상에 상기 패킷을 전송하는 단계를 더 포함하는 패킷들을 경로지정하는 방법.
  16. 제15항에 있어서, 상기 엔트리 전송 링크상에 상기 패킷을 전송하기 전에 상기 헤더로부터 상기 엔트리 전송 링크의 레이블을 제거하는 단계를 더 포함하는 패킷들을 경로지정하는 방법.
