- 2장의 유리기판(1)(2)사이의 간격에 해당하는 셀 갭d와 액정(8)의 복굴절 이방성 값Δn에 의한 광 위상차 △n. d가 0.30≤△n. d≤0.9 범위로 되게 한 STN액정표시소자(10)의 상방으로 스페이서(9)를 개재시키고, 상기한 스페이서(9)의 상방으로 2장의 유리기판(21)(22)사이 간격에 해당하는 셀갭 d를 조절하여 광 위상차 △n. d가 λ/4로 되게 한 위상차보정셀(20)을 적충함과 아울러 상기한 STN액정표시소자(10)에 부착되는 입사면 편광판(12)와 상기한 위상차보정셀(20)에 부차고디는 출사면편광판(11)의 편광각을 상호 90도로 배치시키고 있음을 특징으로 하는 흑백 액정표시소자.
