Abstract

More specifically, the present invention relates to a restorative herb medicine of a Silk of Zea mays Linne and Cucurbita moschata having improved appealability and strong alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase inhibiting activities by adding Silk of Zea mays Linne and Cucurbita moschata to an existing restorative herb medicine comprising Rehmannia glutinosa var. purpurea, Poria cocos, ginseng and honey as main ingredients; and a pharmaceutical composition and health functional food for preventing or treating/ameliorating diabetes comprising the restorative herb medicine of a Silk of Zea mays Linne and Cucurbita moschata. According to the present invention, as being proved through an embodiment of the present specification, a restorative herb medicine composition with increased appealability and excellent antidiabetic activity, which is prepared by adding Silk of Zea mays Linne and Cucurbita moschata: has excellent appealability by adding Silk of Zea mays Linne and Cucurbita moschata; exhibits strong antidiabetic activity by inhibiting alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase; does not show hemolytic activity to human red blood cells at all; has excellent thermal stability; and does not exhibit loss in alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase inhibiting activities even at an acidic condition of pH 2 and within blood plasma at the same time.
