Abstract

Claims (14)
- 첨가물로서 하기 식(1)으로 표시되는 화합물의 군으로부터 선택된 적어도 1개의 화합물, 및 제1 성분으로서 하기 식(2)으로 표시되는 화합물의 군으로부터 선택된 적어도 1개의 화합물을 함유하고, 음(-)의 유전율 이방성을 가지고, 그리고 네마틱상(nematic phase)을 가지는 액정 조성물:
상기 식(1) 및 식(2)에 있어서, R1 및 R2는 독립적으로, 수소 또는 탄소수 1∼15의 알킬이며; R3 및 R4는 독립적으로, 탄소수 1∼12의 알킬, 탄소수 1∼12의 알콕시, 탄소수 2∼12의 알케닐, 또는 탄소수 2∼12의 알케닐옥시이며; 환 A 및 환 C는 독립적으로, 1,4-시클로헥실렌, 1,4-시클로헥세닐렌, 1,4-페닐렌, 적어도 1개의 수소가 불소 또는 염소로 치환된 1,4-페닐렌, 또는 테트라하이드로피란-2,5-디일이며; 환 B는, 2,3-디플루오로-1,4-페닐렌, 2-클로로-3-플루오로-1,4-페닐렌, 2,3-디플루오로-5-메틸-1,4-페닐렌, 3,4,5-트리플루오로나프탈렌-2,6-디일, 또는 7,8-디플루오로크로만-2,6-디일이며; Z1은 탄소수 1∼20의 알킬렌이며, 이 알킬렌에 있어서, 적어도 1개의 수소는 할로겐으로 치환될 수도 있고, 적어도 1개의 -CH2-는, -O-로 치환될 수도 있고; Z2 및 Z3는 독립적으로, 단결합, 에틸렌, 메틸렌옥시, 또는 카르보닐옥시이며, 모든 Z2가 단결합일 때, R3는 탄소수 2∼12의 알케닐 또는 탄소수 2∼12의 알케닐옥시이며; a는, 1, 2, 또는 3이며, b는 0 또는 1이며, 그리고 a와 b의 합은 3 이하임. - 제1항에 있어서,

상기 식(4)에 있어서, R9 및 R10은 독립적으로, 탄소수 1∼12의 알킬 또는 탄소수 1∼12의 알콕시이며; 환 F 및 환 I는 독립적으로, 1,4-시클로헥실렌, 1,4-시클로헥세닐렌, 1,4-페닐렌, 적어도 1개의 수소가 불소 또는 염소로 치환된 1,4-페닐렌, 또는 테트라하이드로피란-2,5-디일이며; 환 G는, 2,3-디플루오로-1,4-페닐렌, 2-클로로-3-플루오로-1,4-페닐렌, 2,3-디플루오로-5-메틸-1,4-페닐렌, 3,4,5-트리플루오로나프탈렌-2,6-디일, 또는 7,8-디플루오로크로만-2,6-디일이며; d는, 1, 2, 또는 3이며, e는 0 또는 1이며, 그리고 d와 e의 합은 3 이하임. - 제8항 또는 제9항에 있어서,

네마틱상의 상한 온도가 70℃ 이상이며, 파장 589 ㎚에서의 광학 이방성(25℃에서 측정)이 0.08 이상이며, 그리고 주파수 1 kHz에서의 유전율 이방성(25℃에서 측정)이 -2 이하인, 액정 조성물. - 제1항 내지 제11항 중 어느 한 항에 기재된 액정 조성물을 함유하는 액정 표시 소자.
- 제12항에 있어서,
액정 표시 소자의 동작 모드가, IPS 모드, VA 모드, PSA 모드, FFS 모드, 또는 FPA 모드이며, 액정 표시 소자의 구동 방식이 액티브 매트릭스 방식인, 액정 표시 소자. - 제1항 내지 제11항 중 어느 한 항에 기재된 액정 조성물의 액정 표시 소자에서의 사용.
