Claims (21)
- 당화된 셀룰로스 또는 리그노셀룰로스 재료를 포함하는 당 용액을 연료 전지에 이용하는 단계를 포함하는 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 연료 전지는 직접적 당 연료 전지, 간접적 당 연료 전지 및 생물학적 연료 전지로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 것인 방법.
- 제2항에 있어서, 당화 전에, 상기 셀룰로스 또는 리그노셀룰로스 재료의 난분해성(recalcitrance)은 천연 상태의 상기 셀룰로스 또는 리그노셀룰로스 재료의 난분해성에 비해서 저감된 것인 방법.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 재료의 난분해성을 저감시키는 방법은, 기계적 처리, 화학적 처리, 초음파처리, 열분해, 조사(irradiation), 산화, 증기 폭발(steam explosion) 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 것인 방법.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 재료의 난분해성을 저감시키는 방법은 상기 재료를 이온화 방사선으로 조사하는 것을 포함하는 것인 방법.
- 제5항에 있어서, 조사는 적어도 10 M㎭의 선량으로 조사하는 것을 포함하는 것인 방법.
- 제5항에 있어서, 이온화 방사선은 전자 빔 조사를 포함하는 것인 방법.

- 제1항에 있어서, 예를 들어, 상기 셀룰로스 또는 리그노셀룰로스 재료의 벌크 밀도를 저감시키고/시키거나 표면적을 증가시키기 위하여 상기 재료를 기계적으로 처리하는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 연료 전지에서 첨가제를 이용하는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 전극 및 당화된 셀룰로스 또는 리그노셀룰로스 바이오매스를 포함하는 연료 전지.
