- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 합성 키모카인은 (A) 그것의 N-말단에서 지방족 사슬, 아미노산, 및 아미노산 유도체로 구성된 군으로부터 선택되는 부분으로; 또는 (B) 그것의 C-말단에서 지방족 사슬, 폴리사이클릭, 아미노산, 및 아미노산 유도체로 구성된 군으로부터 선택되는 부분으로; 또는 (C) 그것의 N-말단에서 지방족 사슬, 아미노산, 및 아미노산 유도체로 구성된 군으로부터 선택되는 부분 및 그것의 C-말단에서 지방족 사슬, 폴리사이클릭, 아미노산, 및 아미노산 유도체로 구성된 군으로부터 선택되는 부분으로 변형되는 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.

- 제 1 항 또는 제 3 항에 있어서, 상기 수용성 폴리머는 C-말단 부위, 응집 부위, 글리코실레이션 부위, 및 글리코스아미노글리칸("GAG") 결합 부위로 구성된 군으로부터 선택되는 부위에서 상기 합성 키모카인에 부착되는 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 3 항에 있어서, 상기 합성 키모카인은 Rantes, MIP1α, MIP1β, SDF-1, IL-8 또는 MCP-1의 유사체인 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 제 8 항에 있어서, 상기 합성 키모카인은 Rantes의 유사체이고, 상기 수용성 폴리머는 C-말단 부위에 부착되는 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 제 8 항에 있어서, 상기 합성 키모카인은 Rantes의 유사체이고, 상기 수용성 폴리머는 응집 부위에 부착되는 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.

- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 수용성 폴리머는 식:U-B-폴리머-J를 갖으며, 식 중:U는 상기 합성 키모카인에 공유 결합된 관능기의 잔기를 포함하고;B는 3 개 이상의 팔을 갖는, 존재하거나 존재하지 않는 분지 코어이고;폴리머는 실질적으로 비항원성 수용성 폴리머이고;J는 생리적 조건하에서 음성, 양성 및 중성으로 구성된 군으로부터 선택되는 순 전하를 갖는 펜단트기의 잔기인 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 제 29 항에 있어서, U, B, 폴리머 및 J 중 하나 이상은 스페이서나 링커에 의하여 분리되고; 상기 스페이서나 링커는 식:U-s1-B-s2-폴리머-s3-J를 갖으며, 식중 s1, s2 및 s3는 동일하거나 상이할 수 있는 스페이서나 링커 부분이고, 개별적으로 존재하거나 존재하지 않을 수 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 제 29 항에 있어서, U는 옥심, 아미드, 아민, 우레탄, 에테르, 티오에테르, 에스테르, 히드라지드, 옥사졸리딘, 및 타이졸리딘으로부터 선택되는 결합의 잔기인 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.

- 제 29 항에 있어서, 폴리머는 식 -[C(O)-X-C(O)NH-Y-NH]n- 또는 -[NH-Y-NH-C(O)-X-C(O)]n-의 폴리아미드이고, 식중 X와 Y는 동일하거나 상이할 수 있으며, 분지 또는 선형인 2가 라디칼이고, n은 1 내지 100의 정수인 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 제 37 항에 있어서, X와 Y 둘 중 하나 또는 모두는:-(O-CH2-CH2)n- 및 -(CH2-CH2-O)n- 으로부터 선택되는 반복단위를 포함하며, 식중 n은 1 내지 100의 정수인 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 제 29 항에 있어서, J는 이온화가능기인 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 제 39 항에 있어서, 상기 이온화가능기는 카르복실, 아민, 및 히드록실로부터 선택되는 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 제 39 항에 있어서, 상기 수용성 폴리머는 전체 음전하를 띠는 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 제 39 항에 있어서, 상기 수용성 폴리머는 전체 양전하를 띠는 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 제 39 항에 있어서, 상기 수용성 폴리머는 전체 중성전하를 띠는 것을 특징으로 하는 합성 키모카인.
- 부착된 수용성 폴리머를 포함하고, 바이러스 감염의 저해를 포함하는 생물학적 반응에 관하여 대응 야생형 키모카인과 같거나 더 작은 시험관내 EC50을 갖는 생물활성 합성 키모카인으로서, 상기 EC50은 상기 생물활성 합성 키모카인이 하나이상의 대응 수용체에 결합하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시험관내 세포-기초 검정에서 측정되고, 하나 이상의 상기 수용체가 바이러스 감염에 대한 공-수용체인 것을 특징으로 하는 생물활성 합성 키모카인.
- 제 44 항에 있어서, 상기 EC50은 1000 nM, 700 nM, 500 nM, 400 nM, 300 nM, 200 nM, 100 nM, 10 nM, 및 1 nM로 구성된 군으로부터 선택되는 농도보다 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 생물활성 합성 키모카인.
- 부착된 수용성 폴리머를 포함하며:(1) 대응 야생형 키모카인과 같거나 더 작은 시험관내 EC50로서, 상기 EC50은 생물활성 합성 키모카인이 하나 이상의 대응 수용체에 결합하는 것을 특징으로 하는 시험관내 세포-기초 검정에서 측정되고, 하나 이상의 상기 수용체가 바이러스 공-수용체인 것을 특징으로 하는 EC 50, 및(2) 상기 수용성 폴리머가 없는 상기 합성 키모카인에 비하여 10 배보다 더 큰 혈청 순환 반감기를 갖는 생물활성 합성 키모카인.
- 제 46 항에 있어서, 상기 EC50은 1000 nM, 700 nM, 500 nM, 400 nM, 300 nM, 200 nM, 100 nM, 10 nM, 및 1 nM로 구성된 군으로부터 선택되는 농도보다 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 생물활성 합성 키모카인.
