Abstract

The present invention relates to a perfume composition with improved fragrance persistence. The composition, which is one aspect of the present invention, has excellent fragrance persistence. Therefore, even after a long time has passed since applying perfume to the skin, it can maintain a fragrance with a similar intensity to the initial one. In addition, the composition of the present invention is economical because it can maintain a fragrance for a long time even when used in small quantities.

Description

The present invention relates to a fragrance composition with improved fragrance persistence.

Perfume refers to a cosmetic product made by dissolving aromatic substances in a solvent such as alcohol. Depending on the concentration of the original liquid, perfume is divided into perfume, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, and eau de cologne. It is known that the history of perfume began about 5,000 years ago when the ancient Egyptians used it as a medium for religious ceremonies. This is in line with the fact that the etymology of perfume comes from the Latin word “perfumare,” which means to pass through smoke. In addition, the coronavirus pandemic that has been prevalent worldwide since 2019 has acted as a factor in further increasing the interest of general consumers in perfume. It is understood that consumers who felt limited in expressing their individuality through colored makeup due to wearing masks have turned to perfume, and that as the time spent in confined spaces has increased, the number of consumers who have come to realize the benefits of fragrance has increased.

As the cosmetics industry and perfume market continue to develop, the needs of consumers who choose perfume have become more diverse than in the past, and their standards for choosing products have also become higher. For example, consumers are looking for customized perfumes to express their individuality, and consumers are looking for perfumes that do not cause allergies, so consumer trends are changing from the past when people simply looked for a good scent.

Nevertheless, there are common needs that perfume consumers from the past to the present expect from perfume, and one of the highest market shares is longevity. The longevity of perfume is generally known to be closely related to the retention rate. The retention rate refers to the ratio of aromatic substances present in the perfume. In general, the higher the retention rate, the better the persistence of the fragrance and the stronger the fragrance. In other words, perfumes with excellent persistence of the fragrance generally contain a large amount of aromatic substances, which are the main ingredients of perfume, and thus have relatively high prices. On the other hand, as the consumer base seeking cost-effectiveness expands along with the popularization of perfume, the high price level is acting as a limitation that restricts the expansion of the perfume demand base.

Accordingly, the cosmetics industry has been making efforts to develop perfumes that use small amounts of fragrance substances while maintaining excellent longevity, but no product has yet been known to have a satisfactory effect.

[Experimental Example] Confirmation of improved fragrance persistence effect

When the fragrance substances listed in Table 1 below were used in combination with 0.1% hydroxypropyl methylcellulose stearoxy ether, it was confirmed whether there was an effect of improving the persistence of fragrance.

Specifically, the amount of residual fragrance was measured 1 hour and 8 hours after application for the group to which only the fragrance was applied to the test paper (control group, indicated as CD) and the group to which the fragrance and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose stearoxy ether were applied together (experimental group, indicated as CF). The residual amount of fragrance was measured using Headspace SPME GC-MS.

The results were expressed as the mass at 1 hour and the rate of change in the mass difference at 8 hours (CD change rate (%) from 1 hour to 8 hours) of the group to which the control group was applied, and as the mass at 1 hour and the rate of change in the mass difference at 8 hours (CF change rate (%) from 1 hour to 8 hours) of the group to which the experimental group was applied.

Additionally, the difference between the CD change rate and the CF change rate (CF change rate (%) - CD change rate (%)) is shown in Table 2.
