Claims (17)
- 각각 제 1 표면과 제 2 표면을 가지고, 서로 대향 배치된 제 1 및 제 2 기판; 및
상기 제 1 및 제 2 기판의 사이에 존재하는 광변조층을 포함하며,
하기 수식 1의 K가 0 초과 0.5 이하의 범위 내인 광변조 디바이스:

수식 1의 K에서, Rin,A 는 550nm 파장의 광에 대한 상기 제 1 기판의 면내 위상차를 의미하고, Rin,B 는 550nm 파장의 광에 대한 상기 제 2 기판의 면내 위상차를 의미하며, max(Rin,A, Rin,B)는 Rin,A 또는 Rin,B 중 더 큰 값을 의미하고, 상기 면내 위상차는 하기 수식 4로 계산되는 값이다:

Rin = d × (nx - ny)
수식 4에서 Rin은 상기 면내 위상차이고, d는 상기 제 1 기판 또는 제 2 기판의 두께이며, nx는 상기 제 1 기판 또는 제 2 기판의 지상축 방향의 굴절률이고, ny는 상기 제 1 기판 또는 제 2 기판의 진상축 방향의 굴절률이다. - 제 1 항에 있어서, 제 1 및 제 2 기판은 550nm 파장의 광에 대한 면내 위상차가 3000nm 이상인 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 제 1 및 제 2 기판은 하기 수식 2의 P의 값이 0.3 이상인 광변조 디바이스:

수식 2의 P에서, WA 는 제 1 기판의 두께를 의미하고, WB 는 제 2 기판의 두께를 의미하며, min(WA, WB)는 WA 또는 WB 중 더 작은 값을 의미한다. - 제 1 항에 있어서, 제 1 기판의 제 1 표면에는 접착제층 또는 점착제층이 형성되어 있고, 제 2 기판의 제 1 표면에는 액정 배향막이 형성되어 있으며, 상기 제 1 및 제 2 기판은 서로의 제 1 표면이 대향하도록 배치되어 있는 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 4 항에 있어서, 접착제층 또는 점착제층은 실리콘 접착제층 또는 실리콘 점착제층인 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 4 항에 있어서, 제 1 기판에는 액정 배향막이 형성되어 있지 않은 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 4 항에 있어서, 액정 배향막은 수직 배향막인 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 광변조층과 제 1 기판 사이 또는 광변조층과 제 2 기판 사이 중 적어도 하나에 광학 이방성층을 포함하는 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 제 1 기판 또는 제 2 기판의 제 2 표면 중 하나 이상의 표면에 형성된 편광층을 추가로 포함하는 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 제 1 및 제 2 기판은 각각 비등방성 필름이고, 상기 제 1 및 제 2 기판의 지상축은 서로 수평인 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 제 1 및 제 2 기판의 간격이 격벽 형상의 스페이서로 유지되어 있는 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 11 항에 있어서, 스페이서는 사각형, 삼각형 또는 허니콤 격벽 형상인 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 광변조층은 액정 화합물을 포함하는 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 광변조층은, 수직 배향 모드와 수평 트위스티드 모드의 사이를 스위칭할 수 있도록 형성되어 있는 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 14 항에 있어서, 수직 배향 모드가 초기 상태에서 구현되도록 광변조층이 형성되어 있는 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 14 항에 있어서, 광변조층의 두께 d와 트위스티드 모드의 피치 p의 비율 d/p는 1 이하인 광변조 디바이스.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 제 1 및 제 2 기판은 서로 다른 두께를 가지는 광변조 디바이스.
