Claims (20)
- 제1 기판,
상기 제1 기판 상에 배치되고, 화소를 복수의 도메인으로 분할하는 줄기부, 상기 줄기부의 적어도 하나의 줄기에서 일 방향으로 연장 배치된 복수의 미세 가지부, 및 상기 미세 가지부 중 적어도 어느 하나의 끝단에 연결되며 상기 화소의 가장 자리를 따라 배치되는 외곽 묶음 전극을 구비하는 제1 전극, 및
상기 외곽 묶음 전극의 외측 둘레에 배치되고, 상기 제1 기판에 수직한 방향으로 돌출되며, 상기 외곽 묶음 전극과 적어도 부분적으로 비중첩하는 돌기부를 포함하는 제1 패널;
제2 기판, 및

상기 제1 패널 및 상기 제2 패널 사이에 배치되며 액정을 구비하는 액정층을 포함하는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 제1 패널은,
일 끝단이 상기 줄기부와 접촉 배치되고, 타 끝단이 상기 외곽 묶음 전극에 접촉 배치되는 제1 슬릿 패턴; 및
상기 미세 가지부의 가지 전극들 중 일부를 이격시키고, 상기 가지 전극의 길이방향을 따라 배치된 일끝단부는 상기 줄기부에 접촉하고, 타끝단부는 상기 돌기부에 접촉 배치되는 제2 슬릿 패턴을 포함하되,
상기 제1, 2 슬릿 패턴은 상기 미세 가지부의 가지 전극들에 이웃한 가지 전극 사이를 제거하여 상기 가지 전극 간에 서로를 이격시키고, 상기 제1, 2 슬릿 패턴 중 적어도 어느 하나가 상기 제1 패널 상에 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 2항에 있어서,
상기 제1 패널은 상기 제1 슬릿 패턴과 제2 슬릿 패턴이 서로 격등(징검다리) 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 2항에 있어서,
상기 도메인과 인접한 도메인에 배치되는 상기 가지 전극과 슬릿 패턴은 서로 엇갈려 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 2항에 있어서,
상기 가지 전극과 슬릿 패턴의 피치(Pitch)는 4um 내지 8um 범위로 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 제1 패널 상에 일방향으로 편광축이 배치된 제1 편광판; 및
상기 제2 패널 상에 상기 일방향에 직교하는 편광축이 배치된 제2 편광판을 포함하고,
상기 제1, 2 편광판의 편광축에 대해서 상기 미세 가지부의 신장 방향은 30°내지 60° 범위로 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
제1 전극은,
상기 돌기부에 부분적으로 접촉 배치되고 상기 돌기부에 대해 평행한 방향으로 배치되는 상기 외곽 묶음 전극과, 상기 외곽 묶음 전극과 연결되고 상기 화소를 복수의 도메인으로 분할하는 가로/세로 줄기부를 포함하는 상기 줄기부와, 상기 가로/세로 줄기부에 연장되어 상기 외곽 묶음 전극에 연결되는 상기 미세 가지부가 일체형으로 이루어진 액정 표시 장치. - 제 7항에 있어서,
상기 가로/세로 줄기부의 폭은 기본적으로 2 ㎛ 내지 5 ㎛ 범위로 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 돌기부의 높이는 0.5 um 내지 2 um 범위로 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 외곽 묶음 전극의 폭은 2 um 내지 4 um 범위로 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 돌기부의 폭은 3 um 내지 5 um 범위로 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 화소에 배치되는 상기 제1 전극은,
상기 줄기부에 인접하게 위치한 상기 미세 가지부가 배치되는 제1 영역;
상기 줄기부에 이격되어 배치되되, 상기 미세 가지부의 어느 하나의 끝단에 적어도 하나 이상의 상기 외곽 묶음 전극 및 돌기부가 배치되는 제2 영역을 포함하되,
상기 제2 영역에 배치되는 상기 외곽 묶음 전극 및 돌기부는,
상기 제2 영역 상의 액정 분자에 상기 제1 영역 상의 액정 분자의 평균 액정 방위각에 유사한 방향으로 상기 액정 분자를 회전시키는 주는 벡터를 제공해 주는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 12항에 있어서,
상기 미세 가지부의 신장 방향과 상기 액정 분자의 방위각은 서로 동일한 방향인 액정 표시 장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 제1 전극은,
하나의 화소에 복수의 부전극이 배치되며, 상기 부전극과 인접한 부전극 사이를 연결하는 연결 전극을 더 포함하는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 14항에 있어서,
상기 연결 전극은 상기 부전극과 이웃한 부전극 사이를 이격시키는 간부에 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 15항에 있어서,
상기 돌기부는 상기 간부에 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 14항에 있어서,
상기 연결 전극은 상기 돌기부의 하부에 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 15항에 있어서,
상기 줄기부는 상기 외곽 묶음 전극과 연결되고 상기 화소를 복수의 도메인으로 분할하는 가로/세로 줄기부를 포함하되,
상기 돌기부는 상기 가로/세로 줄기부의 끝단 및 상기 화소의 모서리 영역에 배치되는 액정표시 장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 돌기부는 상기 화소의 모서리 영역을 제외한 상기 화소의 가장 자리 영역에 배치되는 액정 표시 장치. - 제 15항에 있어서,
상기 간부는 상기 부전극 사이를 이격시키는 가로/세로 간부와 상기 화소의 가장 자리에 배치되는 테두리 간부를 포함하되,
상기 가로/세로 간부에 배치되는 상기 돌기부와, 테두리 간부에 배치되는 상기 돌기부의 폭은 상이하게 배치되는 액정 표시 장치.
