- 기판을 코팅하는 방법으로서,
(A) 기판의 표면 상에 코팅 조성물을 적용하는 단계로서, 상기 코팅 조성물이 (i) 알루미나 삼수화물, 마그네슘 하이드록사이드, 칼슘 몰리브데이트, 아연 몰리브데이트, 암모늄 몰리브데이트, 또는 이들의 조합을 포함하는 무기 난연제; (ii) 알킬 케텐 다이머, 알케닐 숙신산 무수물, 중성 로진(neutral rosin), 또는 이들의 조합을 포함하는 유기 양친매성 화합물; 및 (iii) 물을 포함하는, 단계; 및
(B) 상기 코팅 조성물을 경화시켜 기판 상에 건조 코팅층(dry coating layer)을 형성시키는 단계를 포함하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서, 상기 코팅 조성물이 현탁제(suspension agent)를 추가로 포함하고,
임의로,
상기 코팅 조성물이 25℃ 및 1 atm에서 적어도 1주 동안 안정한 에멀젼(emulsion)이며,
상기 현탁제가 폴리아크릴레이트 분산제, 알칼리-팽윤 가능한 에멀젼제(ASE; alkali-swellable emusion agent), 소수성으로 개질된 알칼리-팽윤 가능한 에멀젼제(HASE; hydrophobically-modified alkali-swellable emusion agent), 소수성으로 개질된 에톡실화된 우레탄 수지(HEUR; hydrophobically-modified ethoxylated urethane resin), 또는 이들의 조합을 포함하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서, 단계 (B)가 100 내지 200℃ 범위의 온도에서 수행되는 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 건조 코팅층의 코팅 중량이 10 내지 500 제곱미터 당 그램(gram per square meter, gsm)의 범위인 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 기판이 금속, 목재, 페이퍼, 플라스틱, 유리, 섬유유리, 또는 이들의 조합들을 포함하는 방법.
- (i) 알루미나 삼수화물, 마그네슘 하이드록사이드, 칼슘 몰리브데이트, 아연 몰리브데이트, 암모늄 몰리브데이트, 또는 이들의 조합을 포함하는 무기 난연제;
(ii) 알킬 케텐 다이머, 알케닐 숙신산 무수물, 중성 로진(neutral rosin), 또는 이들의 조합을 포함하는 유기 양친매성 화합물; 및
(iii) 물을 포함하는, 코팅 조성물. - 제6항에 있어서, 상기 코팅 조성물이 10 내지 90 중량%의 무기 난연제를 포함하며,
상기 무기 난연제가 0.25 내지 5 ㎛ 범위의 D50 입자 크기를 갖는 미처리된, 침강 알루미나 삼수화물이고,
여기서, 미처리된 알루미나 삼수화물은 폴리머 및 플라스틱과의 혼화성을 개선시키기 위해 표면 코팅되거나 표면 처리되지 않은 것인, 코팅 조성물. - 제6항에 있어서, 상기 코팅 조성물이 0.1 내지 10 중량%의 유기 양친매성 화합물을 포함하며,
상기 유기 양친매성 화합물이 알킬 케텐 다이머인, 코팅 조성물. - 제6항에 있어서, 상기 코팅 조성물이 0.05 내지 8 중량%의 현탁제를 추가로 포함하며,
상기 현탁제가 알칼리-팽윤 가능한 에멀젼제(ASE)를 포함하는, 코팅 조성물. - 제6항에 있어서, 상기 코팅 조성물이 55 내지 75 중량%의 고형물을 포함하는 수성 슬러리이며,
상기 코팅 조성물이 25℃ 및 1 atm에서 200 내지 5000 cP 범위의 브룩필드 점도(Brookfield viscosity)를 갖는, 코팅 조성물. - 제6항의 코팅 조성물로부터 생성된 건조 코팅층으로서, 건조 코팅층의 코팅 중량이 35 내지 350 제곱미터 당 그램(gsm)인, 건조 코팅층.
- 제11항의 건조 코팅층으로 적어도 일부 덮혀진 기판을 포함하는 제조품(article of manufacture).
