Claims (25)
- 액세서리를 동작시키는 방법으로서,
상기 액세서리 및 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스 사이의 접속을 설정하는 단계;
상기 액세서리에 의해, 외부 전원으로부터 전력을 수신하는 단계;
상기 액세서리에 의해, 상기 외부 전원의 전류 능력을 결정하는 단계;
상기 액세서리에 의해, 상기 외부 전원의 전류 능력으로부터 상기 액세서리의 전류 요건을 공제(deducting)함으로써 순 전류 능력(net current capability)을 결정하는 단계; 및
상기 액세서리에 의해, 상기 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스가 상기 순 전류 능력과 동일한 한계를 가지는 전류를 끌어내어야 함을 상기 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스에 상기 접속을 통해 시그널링하는 단계
를 포함하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 외부 전원은 전력 컨버터를 포함하고, 상기 전력 컨버터는 교류 전력에 커플링되고, 상기 전력 컨버터는 상기 교류 전력을 직류 전력으로 변환하는 방법. - 제1항에 있어서,
상기 외부 전원의 전류 능력은 적어도 하나의 유니버설 직렬 버스 데이터 핀 상의 저항기 값들을 판독함으로써 상기 액세서리에 의해 결정되는 방법. - 제1항 내지 제3항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
상기 액세서리에 의해, 상기 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스가 상기 액세서리로부터 상기 시그널링을 수신했음을 확인응답하는 신호를 상기 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스로부터 수신하는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법. - 제1항 내지 제3항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
상기 액세서리는 도킹 스테이션인 방법. - 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스를 동작시키는 방법으로서,
상기 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스 및 액세서리 사이의 접속을 설정하는 단계;
상기 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스에 의해, 상기 액세서리에 전력을 공급하는 외부 전원의 전류 능력의 표시를 수신하는 단계;
상기 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스에 의해, 상기 액세서리의 전류 요건을 표시하는 전력 명령을 상기 액세서리로부터 수신하는 단계;
상기 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스에 의해, 상기 외부 전원의 전류 능력으로부터 상기 액세서리의 전력 요건을 공제함으로써 순 전류 능력을 결정하는 단계; 및
상기 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스에 의해, 상기 순 전류 능력과 동일한 한계를 가지는 전류를 끌어내는 단계
를 포함하는 방법. - 제6항에 있어서,
상기 외부 전원은 전력 컨버터를 포함하고, 상기 전력 컨버터는 교류 전력 에 커플링되고, 상기 전력 컨버터는 상기 교류 전력을 직류 전력으로 변환시키는 방법. - 제6항에 있어서,
상기 외부 전원의 전류 능력은 적어도 하나의 유니버셜 직렬 버스 데이터 핀 상의 저항기 값들을 판독함으로써 상기 휴대용 컴퓨팅 디바이스에 의해 결정되는 방법. - 제8항에 있어서,
상기 적어도 하나의 유니버셜 직렬 버스 데이터 핀 상의 저항기 값들은 상기 외부 전원에 의해 제공되는 방법. - 제6항 내지 제9항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
