Claims (5)
- 광원과, 상기 광원으로부터 출사된 광속을 미리 지정된 광로로 집광시키는 조명 광학계와, 상기 조명 광학계에 의해 집광된 광속을 액정 소자 기판의 법선으로부터 프리틸트각(α)만큼 기울여 호메오트로픽(homeotropic) 배향된 수직 배향형의 액정 분자에 의해 광변조하는 액정 소자와, 상기 액정 소자에 의해 광변조된 광속을 확대 투영하는 투사 렌즈를 구비한 액정 프로젝터 장치로서,상기 액정 소자의 입사측 및 출사측에 각각 배치되는 제1 편광판 및 제2 편광판을 갖고, 상기 조명 광학계에 의해 집광된 광속에 있어서의 제1 편광 성분을 상기 제1 편광판에 의해 투과시켜 이를 상기 액정 소자로 유도함과 함께, 상기 액정 소자로부터 출사된 광속에 있어서의 제2 편광 성분을 상기 제2 편광판에 의해 투과시켜 이를 상기 투사 렌즈로 유도하는 편광 제어 수단과,상기 제1 편광판과 상기 액정 소자 사이에, 또는 상기 제2 편광판과 상기 액정 소자 사이에 배치한 광학 이방성 소자로 이루어지는 위상차 수단을 구비하고,상기 광학 이방성 소자는 경사지게 잘라낸 매질 사이에 끼워지도록 구성되고,상기 위상차 수단은, 상기 광학 이방성 소자를, 상기 액정 소자 기판에 대한 배향 처리 방향과 직교하고 상기 액정 소자 기판과 평행한 광학축을 중심으로, 상기 액정 소자 기판과 평행한 면으로부터 회전각(β)만큼 상기 액정 분자의 프리틸트 방향으로 회전시켜 배치하고, 상기 회전각(β)은 수식: n1sinα = n2sinβ (여기서, n1은 액정 소자의 굴절률, n2는 액정 소자로부터 광학 이방성 소자에 이르기까지의 매질의 굴절률임)를 만족하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 프로젝터 장치.
