Claims (23)
- 기판과,
상기 기판에 지지되고, 동일 재료로 이루어지는 연속막으로서 형성된, 광학 이방성을 갖는 고체화 액정층과,
상기 기판과 상기 고체화 액정층 사이에 개재하거나 또는 상기 고체화 액정층을 사이에 끼워 상기 기판과 마주 향한 컬러 필터층을 구비하고,
상기 컬러 필터층은 투과광의 파장이 상이한 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소를 가지고, 상기 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소는 각각 반사 표시용 영역과 투과 표시용 영역으로 구성되고,
상기 컬러 필터층의 상기 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소의 상기 반사 표시용 영역은 각각 착색부와 비착색부로 구성되고,
상기 고체화 액정층은 제1 내지 제3 영역을 포함하고, 상기 제1 내지 제3 영역은 각각 부영역 A 및 부영역 B의 2개의 부영역에 의해 구성되고,
상기 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소의 상기 반사 표시용 영역은 각각 상기 고체화 액정층의 상기 제1 내지 제3 영역과 마주 향해 있으며,
상기 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소의 상기 반사 표시용 영역에서는,
상기 착색부는 각각 상기 고체화 액정층의 상기 제1A 내지 제3A 부영역과 마주 향하고,
상기 비착색부는 각각 고체화 액정층의 상기 제1B 내지 제3B 부영역과 마주 향해 있으며,
상기 제1A 부영역의 면 내 복굴절률은 상기 제2A 부영역보다 크고, 상기 제3A 부영역의 면 내 복굴절률은 상기 제2A 부영역보다 작고,
상기 제1B 부영역의 면 내 복굴절률은 제3B 부영역과 동일하며 상기 제1A 부영역보다 작고 상기 제3A 부영역보다 큰 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판. - 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1B 부영역, 제2B 부영역 및 제3B 부영역의 면 내 복굴절률은 동일한 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 제1B 부영역, 제2B 부영역 및 제3B 부영역의 면 내 복굴절률은 상기 제2A 부영역의 면 내 복굴절률과 동일한 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1B 부영역의 면 내 복굴절률은 상기 제3B 부영역과 동일하며 상기 제2B 부영역과는 다르고, 상기 제2B 부영역의 면 내 복굴절률은 상기 제2A 부영역과 동일한 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 고체화 액정층의 두께는 전체면에 걸쳐 균일한 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 고체화 액정층은 서모트로픽 액정 화합물 또는 조성물을 중합, 가교, 또는 중합 및 가교시켜 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판.

- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 착색 화소는 상기 제2 착색 화소보다 파장이 긴 광을 투과하고, 상기 제3 착색 화소는 상기 제2 착색 화소보다 파장이 짧은 광을 투과하는 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판.

- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소의 상기 반사 표시용 영역에서의 상기 착색부의 분광 투과율은, 각각 상기 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소의 상기 투과 표시용 영역의 분광 투과율과 동일한 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판.

상기 컬러 필터층은, 투과광의 파장이 상이한 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소를 갖고, 상기 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소는 반사 표시용 영역과 투과 표시용 영역으로 구성되고, 상기 착색 화소의 상기 반사 표시용 영역은 착색부와 비착색부로 각각 구성되고,
상기 고체화 액정층의 형성은,
상기 컬러 필터층 상에, 광 중합성 또는 광 가교성 서모트로픽 액정 화합물을 포함하고 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물의 메소겐이 배향 구조를 형성하고 있는 액정 재료층을 형성하는 성막 공정과,
상기 액정 재료층의 적어도 2개 영역을 상이한 노광량으로 노광하여, 상기 액정 재료층 중에, 상기 제1 착색 화소의 상기 반사 표시용 영역의 상기 착색부에 마주 향하고 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물의 중합 또는 가교 생성물을 포함한 제1A 부영역과, 상기 제2 착색 화소의 상기 반사 표시용 영역의 상기 착색부에 마주 향하고 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물과 미반응 화합물로서의 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물을 포함하고 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물의 함유율이 상기 제1A 부영역과 비교하여 보다 낮은 제2A 부영역과, 상기 제3 착색 화소의 상기 반사 표시용 영역의 상기 착색부에 마주 향하고, 미반응 화합물로서의 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물을 포함하고 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물의 함유율이 상기 제2A 부영역과 비교하여 보다 낮은 제3A 부영역과, 미반응 화합물로서의 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물을 포함하고 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물의 함유율이 상기 제1A 부영역보다 낮으며 상기 제3A 부영역보다 높은, 상기 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소의 반사 표시용 영역의 비착색부에 각각 마주 향하는 제1B 내지 제3B 부영역을 형성하는 노광 공정과,
그 후, 상기 액정 재료층을 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물이 액정상으로부터 등방상으로 변화되는 상전이 온도와 동일한 온도 이상으로 가열하여, 적어도 상기 제2A, 제3A 및 제1B 내지 제3B 부영역에서 상기 메소겐의 배향 정도를 저하시키는 현상 공정과,
상기 배향 정도를 저하시킨 채로 미반응 화합물로서의 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물을 중합, 가교, 또는 중합 및 가교시키는 정착 공정을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판의 제조 방법. - 제14항에 있어서, 상기 노광 공정은 상기 제1B 내지 제3B 부영역에서의 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물의 함유율이 동일해지도록 행해지는 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판의 제조 방법.
- 제15항에 있어서, 상기 노광 공정은 상기 제1B 내지 제3B 부영역에서의 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물의 함유율이 상기 제2A 부영역과 동일해지도록 행해지는 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판의 제조 방법.
- 제14항에 있어서, 상기 노광 공정은 상기 제1B 부영역에서의 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물의 함유율이 제3B 부영역과 동일하며 상기 제2B 부영역과는 다름과 동시에, 상기 제2B 부영역에서의 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물의 함유율이 상기 제2A 부영역과 동일해지도록 행해지는 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판의 제조 방법.
- 제14항에 있어서, 상기 성막 공정에 있어서 상기 액정 재료층을 균일한 두께의 연속막으로서 형성하는 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판의 제조 방법.
- 제14항에 있어서, 상기 정착 공정에 있어서 상기 중합, 가교, 또는 중합 및 가교 반응은 광 조사에 의해서 유발되는 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판의 제조 방법.
- 제19항에 있어서, 상기 정착 공정에서의 상기 광 조사는 상기 액정 재료층 전체를 노광함으로써 행해지는 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판의 제조 방법.
- 제14항에 있어서, 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물은 상기 상전이 온도보다 높은 중합, 가교, 또는 중합 및 가교 온도로 가열함으로써 중합, 가교, 또는 중합 및 가교되는 재료이고, 상기 현상 공정에 있어서, 메소겐기의 배향 상태는 상기 액정 재료층을 상기 중합, 가교, 또는 중합 및 가교 온도 미만의 온도로 가열함으로써 변화시키고, 상기 정착 공정에 있어서, 미반응 화합물로서의 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물은 상기 액정 재료층을 상기 중합, 가교, 또는 중합 및 가교 이상의 온도로 가열함으로써 중합, 가교, 또는 중합 및 가교시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 위상차 기판의 제조 방법.

상기 액정 재료층의 적어도 2개 영역을 상이한 노광량으로 노광하여, 상기 액정 재료층 중에, 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물의 중합 또는 가교 생성물을 포함한 제1A 부영역과, 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물과 미반응 화합물로서의 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물을 포함하고 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물의 함유율이 상기 제1A 부영역과 비교하여 보다 낮은 제2A 부영역과, 미반응 화합물로서의 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물을 포함하고 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물의 함유율이 상기 제2A 부영역과 비교하여 보다 낮은 제3A 부영역과, 미반응 화합물로서의 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물을 포함하고 상기 중합 또는 가교 생성물의 함유율이 상기 제1A 부영역보다 낮으며 상기 제3A 부영역보다 높은 제1B 내지 제3B 부영역을 형성하는 노광 공정과,
그 후, 상기 액정 재료층을 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물이 액정상으로부터 등방상으로 변화되는 상전이 온도와 동일한 온도 이상으로 가열하여, 적어도 상기 제2A, 제3A 및 제1B 내지 제3B 부영역에서 상기 메소겐의 배향 정도를 저하시키는 현상 공정과,
상기 배향 정도를 저하시킨 채로 미반응 화합물로서의 상기 서모트로픽 액정 화합물을 중합, 가교, 또는 중합 및 가교시키는 정착 공정을 구비하며,
상기 컬러 필터층은, 투과광의 파장이 상이한 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소를 갖고, 상기 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소는 반사 표시용 영역과 투과 표시용 영역으로 구성되고, 상기 착색 화소의 상기 반사 표시용 영역은 착색부와 비착색부로 각각 구성되고, 상기 제1 내지 제3 착색 화소의 상기 반사 표시용 영역에서는, 상기 착색부는 각각 상기 고체화 액정층의 상기 제1A 내지 제3A 부영역과 마주 향하고, 상기 비착색부는 각각 고체화 액정층의 상기 제1B 내지 제3B 부영역과 마주 향하는 것을 특징으로 하는,
