- 차량 축(axle; 차축)의 인접한 단부상의 차량 새시의 일 측면상에서 전후방향으로 연장하는 프레임 부재를 지지하기 위한 현가 시스템으로서,(a) 상기 프레임 부재상에 장착된 프레임 브라켓과,(b) 상기 프레임 브라켓으로부터 이격된 관계로 상기 프레임 부재상에 장착된 스프링 단부 지지부와,(c) 상기 프레임 브라켓에 연결된 제 1 단부와, 상기 스프링 단부 지지부에 연결된 제 2 단부를 갖고, 축 클램핑(clamping) 구조에 의해 상기 축에 장착되는 복합 판 스프링(composite leaf spring)을 포함하고, 상기 복합 판 스프링은 전장의 제 1 판과, 보다 짧은 제 2 판을 구비하며,(d) 상기 제 1 판은 내경을 갖고 상기 복합 판 스프링의 상기 제 1 단부에 위치된 제 1 아이(eye)와, 상기 복합 판 스프링의 상기 제 2 단부에 위치되고 상기 스프링 단부 지지부에 연결되는 제 2 아이를 가지며,(e) 상기 제 2 판은 외경을 갖고 상기 복합 판 스프링의 상기 제 1 단부에 위치되며 상기 프레임 브라켓에 연결되는 아이를 구비하며, 상기 제 1 판의 상기 제 1 아이의 상기 내경은 상기 제 2 판의 상기 아이의 상기 외경보다 더 크고, 상기 제 2 판의 상기 아이는 상기 제 1 판의 상기 제 1 아이가 상기 제 2 판의 상기 아이의 상기 외경 둘레를 둘러싸도록 상기 제 1 판의 상기 제 1 아이와 상호결합하는 관계이며,(f) 상기 복합 판 스프링은 상기 차량 축의 중심선으로부터 상기 복합 판 스프링의 상기 제 1 단부까지 연장하는 제 1 캔틸레버 림(cantilever limb)과, 상기 차량 축의 상기 중심선으로부터 상기 복합 판 스프링의 상기 제 2 단부까지 연장하는 제 2 캔틸레버 림으로 분할하고,(g) 상기 제 1 판은 상기 복합 판 스프링을 위한 여분(redundancy)을 제공하고, 상기 제 1 및 제 2 판들 각각은 상기 제 1 프레임 부재에 부착하기 위한 상기 복합 판 스프링용 아이를 제공하며,(h) 상기 제 2 판은 상기 축 클램핑 구조에 의해 상기 축에 장착되고 상기 차량 축의 적어도 상기 중심선까지 연장하나 상기 복합 판 스프링의 상기 제 2 단부 가까이에서 종결되고,(i) 상기 제 2 판은 상기 제 1 판 보다 실질적으로 더 짧고 실질적으로 더 두꺼우며,(j) 상기 제 1 캔틸레버 림은 상기 복합 판 스프링이 비대칭(asymmetric)이 되도록 상기 제 2 캔틸레버 림의 강성 보다 실질적으로 더 큰 강성을 갖고,(k) 상기 제 1 캔틸레버 림은 상기 차량 샤시를 위한 충분한 수직 하중 지지력을 제공하며,(l) 상기 제 2 판은 상기 제 1 판에 걸쳐 연장하여 이 판으로부터 이격되어 상기 축에 인접하고 상기 프레임 브라켓의 반대측 측면상의 단부 부분과, 상기 단부 부분과 상기 프레임 부재 사이에서 샤시 지지 관계로 연장하여 상기 단부 부분에 장착되는 공기 스프링을 가지며,(m) 상기 공기 스프링은 상기 단부 부분상에만 장착되고 상기 복합 판 스프링의 제 1 판상에는 장착되지 않는 현가 시스템.
- 제 10 항에 있어서, 상기 축은 높은 비틀림 강성을 나타내는 비틀림적으로 강성인 중공 축 본체를 갖는 현가 시스템.
