- 반사형 액정 표시 패널, 하나 이상의 조명장치 및 광로 제어층을 포함하는 반사형 액정 표시장치로서,상기 액정 표시 패널이, 전극을 적어도 갖는 지지 기판으로 구성된 배면측 셀 기판, 상기 배면측 셀 기판에서의 지지 기판보다 두껍고 투명 전극을 적어도 갖는 투명 기판으로 구성된 시인측 셀 기판, 및 각각의 전극을 서로 대향시켜 배치한 상기 배면측 셀 기판과 상기 시인측 셀 기판 사이에 고정되어 있는 액정층을 포함하는 액정 셀; 및 상기 시인측 셀 기판의 외표면에 대한 외부 입사광이 반사되고 상기 액정층을 통해 투과된 표시 광이 시인측 셀 기판으로부터 방출되어 시인되도록 액정 셀내의 액정층의 배면에 구비된 반사층을 포함하고;상기 조명장치가 상기 액정 표시 패널의 측면중 하나 이상에 배치되고;상기 광로 제어층이 10 내지 300㎛의 두께를 갖고 상기 시인측 셀 기판의 외표면측에 발광부를 갖되, 상기 발광부가 상기 조명장치를 통한 측면에 대한 입사광이 상기 배면측 셀 기판을 향해 반사되게 하는 광로 변환 사면을 갖고, 상기 광로 변환 사면이 액정 표시 패널의 반사면에 대해 35 내지 48°의 경사각으로 각각 경사진 반사형 액정 표시장치.
- 제 4 항에 있어서,배면측 셀 기판에서의 지지 기판의 두께가 시인측 셀 기판에서의 투명 기판의 두께의 1/20 내지 2/3인 반사형 액정 표시장치.
- 제 4 항에 있어서,시인측 셀 기판에서의 투명 기판이 그보다 낮은 굴절률의 투명층을 추가로 갖고, 조명장치가 시인측 셀 기판의 측면상에 배치되는 반사형 액정 표시장치.
- 제 4 항에 있어서,액정 표시 패널이 액정 셀의 한쪽면 이상에 편광판을 추가로 갖는 반사형 액정 표시장치.
- 제 4 항에 있어서,광로 제어층내의 발광부가 프리즘상 오목부로 구성되고, 상기 발광부내의 광로 변환 사면이 조명장치를 배치한 측면을 향하는 반사형 액정 표시장치.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,프리즘상 오목부가 각각 광로 변환 사면의 횡단면에 대하여 삼각형인 반사형 액정 표시장치.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,프리즘상 오목부가 각각 광로 제어층의 한쪽 단부로부터 다른 쪽 단부까지 이르는 연속 홈으로 구성되고, 상기 홈내의 광로 변환 사면이 각각 조명장치를 배치한 측면에 대해 평행하거나 또는 경사진 반사형 액정 표시장치.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,프리즘상 오목부가 각각 광로 변환 사면 각각의 횡단면에 기초하여 삼각형 단면인 미소 홈으로 구성되고, 광로 변환 사면 각각의 장변의 길이가 미소 홈의 깊이의 5배 이상이되 500㎛ 이하이고, 발광부가 광로 제어층의 표면에 불연속적이고 불규칙적으로 분포된 복수개의 미소 홈을 함유하는 반사형 액정 표시장치.
- 제 4 항에 있어서,광로 제어층이 투명 시이트로 이루어지고, 시인측 셀 기판에서의 투명 기판보다 큰 굴절률을 갖는 접착층에 의해 시인측 셀 기판의 외표면측에 접착된 반사형 액정 표시장치.
