Claims (3)
- 이격해서 대향하며, 단위 화소가 한정된 상,하부 기판;상기 상하부 기판 사이에 개재되며, 유전율 이방성이 음인 수개의 액정 분자를 포함하는 액정층;상기 하부 기판 내측면의 각 단위 화소 내에 형성되는 화소 전극;상기 상부 기판의 내측면에 형성되며, 상기 화소 전극과 함께 액정 분자를 동작시키는 전계를 형성하는 카운터 전극;상기 화소 전극과 액정층 사이에 개재되는 제 1 수직 배향막;상기 카운터 전극과 액정층 사이에 개재되는 제 2 수직 배향막;상기 상부 기판 외측면에 배치되는 제 1 편광판;상기 하부 기판 외측면에 배치되며, 상기 제 1 편광판의 편광축과 직교하는 편광축을 갖는 제 2 편광판; 및상기 제 2 편광판과 상부 기판 사이에 배치되며, 액정 분자들의 굴절율 이방성을 보상하는 위상 보상판;을 포함하며,상기 화소 전극은 플레이트 형태를 가짐과 아울러 상기 플레이트 내에 가장자리를 따라 배치되는 "U"자형 홈을 구비하며,상기 카운터 전극은 플레이트 형태를 가짐과 아울러 상기 플레이트 내에 상기 화소 전극의 "U"자형 홈에 삽입되어 보이는 "ㅗ"자형의 홈을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 "U"자형 홈 및 "ㅗ"자형의 홈의 선폭은 5 내지 10㎛ 인 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 "U"자형 홈 및 "ㅗ"자형의 홈의 단부는 상기 화소 전극 또는 카운터 전극의 가장자리와 5 내지 10㎛ 정도 이격된 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정 표시 장치.
