Abstract

본 발명은 텔레비젼 수상기의 프로그램 가이드 방법에 관한 것으로서 특히 사용자로 하여금 프로그램 가이드 화면에서 직관적으로 원하는 프로그램을 선택할 수 있게 하는 프로그램 가이드 방법에 관한 것이다.
본 발명에 따른 프로그램 가이드 방법은 프로그램 가이드 화면을 표시하는 과정은 상기 프로그램 가이드 화면을 선택 가능한 채널들 중의 하나를 선택하는 채널 탐색창과 상기 채널 탐색창을 통하여 선택된 채널에서 시청가능한 프로그램 목록들을 보이는 프로그램 탐색창으로 분리하여 구성하고, 상기 프로그램 가이드 화면을 선택 가능한 채널들 중의 하나를 선택하는 채널 탐색창과 상기 채널 탐색창을 통하여 선택된 채널에서 시청가능한 프로그램 목록들을 보이는 프로그램 탐색창으로 분리하여 구성하고, 상기 프로그램 탐색창에는 상기 채널 탐색창을 통하여 선택된 채널에서 시청가능한 프로그램들을 시계 형태로 나열하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명에 따른 프로그램 가이드 방법은 채널 선택창 및 프로그램 선택창을 별도로 구성하고, 또한 프로그램 목록을 시계형태로 표시함에 의해 사용자로 하여금 프로그램을 직관적으로 탐색할 수 있게 하는 효과를 갖는다.

Description

텔레비전 수상기의 프로그램 가이드 방법{Program guide method of television receiver}
본 발명은 텔레비젼 수상기의 프로그램 가이드 방법에 관한 것으로서 특히 사용자로 하여금 프로그램 가이드 화면으로부터 직관적으로 원하는 프로그램을 선택할 수 있게 하는 프로그램 가이드 방법에 관한 것이다.
디지털 텔레비젼 방송의 경우 수십 ∼ 수백개의 채널을 가질 수 있기 때문에 그에 해당하는 프로그램도 수백 가지가 될 수 있다. 따라서, 사용자가 시청할 수 있는 프로그램을 화면을 통하여 가이드하는 이른바 전자 프로그램 가이드(Electric Program Guide)라는 방법이 사용된다. 이러한 전자 프로그램 가이드는 방송국측에서 전송되는 프로그램 안내 정보를 검출하여 메모리에 저장하여 두고 사용자가 요구할 때 이를 화면상에 디스플레이한다. 사용자는 화면상에 장르별 시간대별로 디스플레이되는 프로그램에서 원하는 프로그램을 탐색하게 된다.
도 1은 종래 기술에 의한 프로그램 가이드 방법에 의해 디스플레이되는 화면의 예를 보이는 것이다. 도 1에 도시된 프로그램 가이드 화면(100)에 의해 알 수 있는 바와 같이 종래의 프로그램 가이드 방법에 의하면 채널대 시간축으로 각 프로그램이 나열된다. 한 화면에 통상 5∼6개의 채널과 2∼3시간 분량의 프로그램이 디스플레이된다. 채널 표시 영역(102)에 표시되지 않는 나머지 채널들에 대해서는 채널 스크롤 바(scroll bar)(104, 106)를 이용하고, 프로그램 표시 영역(108)에 표시되지 않는 나머지 프로그램들에 대해서는 시간 스크롤 바(scroll bar)(110, 112)를 이용한다.
도 1에 도시된 바와 같은 프로그램 가이드 방법에 의하면 스프레드 쉬트(spread sheet)와 같은 형태로 평면적으로 채널 및 프로그램들이 나열되기 때문에 사용자가 직관적으로 채널 및 프로그램을 선택하기가 어렵다는 문제점이 있다.
본 발명은 상기의 문제점들을 해결하기 위하여 안출된 것으로서 사용자가 채널 및 프로그램을 용이하게 탐색할 수 있는 새로운 프로그램 가이드 방법을 제공하는 것을 그 목적으로 한다.
도 1은 종래 기술에 의한 프로그램 가이드 방법에 의해 디스플레이되는 화면의 예를 보이는 것이다.
도 2는 본 발명에 따른 프로그램 가이드 방법을 도식적으로 보이기 위해 도시된 것이다.
상기의 목적을 달성하는 본 발명에 따른 프로그램 가이드 방법은 프로그램가이드 명령에 응답하여 시청 가능한 채널 및 해당 채널의 프로그램들을 보이는 프로그램 가이드 화면을 표시하는 과정과 상기 프로그램 가이드 화면에서 선택된 프로그램을 재생하여 시청자에게 제공하는 프로그램 가이드 방법에 있어서, 상기 프로그램 가이드 화면을 표시하는 과정은 상기 프로그램 가이드 화면을 선택 가능한 채널들 중의 하나를 선택하는 채널 탐색창과 상기 채널 탐색창을 통하여 선택된 채널에서 시청가능한 프로그램 목록들을 보이는 프로그램 탐색창으로 분리하여 구성하고, 상기 프로그램 가이드 화면을 선택 가능한 채널들 중의 하나를 선택하는 채널 탐색창과 상기 채널 탐색창을 통하여 선택된 채널에서 시청가능한 프로그램 목록들을 보이는 프로그램 탐색창으로 분리하여 구성하고, 상기 프로그램 탐색창에는 상기 채널 탐색창을 통하여 선택된 채널에서 시청가능한 프로그램들을 시계 형태로 나열하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 이하 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 본 발명의 구성 및 동작을 상세히 설명한다.
도 2는 본 발명에 따른 프로그램 가이드 방법을 도식적으로 보이기 위해 도시된 것이다. 도 2에 된 바에 있어서 가장 큰 특징은 프로그램 가이드 화면(400)에 있어서 채널 탐색창(200)과 프로그램 탐색창(300)을 별도로 구성한 것이며, 또한 프로그램 탐색창(300)을 시계 형태로 구현한 것이다.
채널 탐색창(200)은 채널명 디스플레이 영역(202)와 좌우 스크롤 버튼들(204, 206)을 구비한다. 채널명 디스플레이 영역(202)에는 현재 선택된 채널의 명칭이 디스플레이된다. 도 2에 도시된 바에 있어서 'MBC'가 선택되어져 있음을 알 수 있다. 좌우 스크롤 버튼들(204, 206)에 의해 채널명을 스크롤할 수 있다. 스크롤 순서는 채널 명칭의 알파벳 순서 혹은 채널 번호의 순서가 될 수 있다.
프로그램 탐색창(300)은 프로그램 표시영역(302) 및 시간 단위 설정 버튼들(306 ∼314)를 구비한다.
프로그램 탐색창(300)은 시계 형태로 구현되어 일정 시간대의 프로그램을 직관적으로 탐색할 수 있게 한다. 즉, 도 1에 도시된 화면에서는 사용자가 화면상에 보이지 않는 프로그램을 찾기 위해서는 좌우 스크롤 버튼들(100, 112)를 조작하여야 하며, 평면적으로 표시된 상태에서 프로그램을 탐색하여야 한다.
그러나, 도 2에 도시된 화면에 있어서는 일정 시간대에서의 프로그램들이 한눈에 들어올 수 있도록 표시되기 때문에 사용자가 좀더 편하게 원하는 프로그램을 탐색할 수 있다.
프로그램 탐색창(300)에 표시되는 프로그램의 분량은 시간 단위 설정 버튼들(306 ∼314)에 의해 조정될 수 있다. 도 2에 도시된 것은 6H 설정 버튼(306)에 의해 6시간 분량의 프로그램이 설정된 것을 보이는 예이다. 시간 단위 설정 버튼들(306 ∼314)에 따라 3시간, 6시간, 12시간, 24시간, 그리고 3일간의 분량을 선택할 수 있다.
사용자가 프로그램 탐색창(300)에 표시된 프로그램들 중의 하나를 선택하면 해당 프로그램이 재생된다.
상술한 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따른 프로그램 가이드 방법은 채널 선택창 및 프로그램 선택창을 별도로 구성하고, 또한 프로그램 목록을 시계형태로 표시함에의해 사용자로 하여금 프로그램 목록을 직관적으로 탐색할 수 있게 하는 효과를 갖는다.

Claims (4)

  1. 프로그램 가이드 명령에 응답하여 시청 가능한 채널 및 해당 채널의 프로그램들을 보이는 프로그램 가이드 화면을 표시하는 과정과 상기 프로그램 가이드 화면에서 선택된 프로그램을 재생하여 시청자에게 제공하는 프로그램 가이드 방법에 있어서,
    상기 프로그램 가이드 화면을 표시하는 과정은
    상기 프로그램 가이드 화면을 선택 가능한 채널들 중의 하나를 선택하는 채널 탐색창과 상기 채널 탐색창을 통하여 선택된 채널에서 시청가능한 프로그램 목록들을 보이는 프로그램 탐색창으로 분리하여 구성하고,
    상기 프로그램 탐색창에는 상기 채널 탐색창을 통하여 선택된 채널에서 시청가능한 프로그램들을 시계 형태로 나열하는 것을 특징으로 하는 프로그램 가이드 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 채널 탐색창과 상기 프로그램 탐색창은 각각 텔레비전 수상기 화면의 일부에 표시되는 것을 특징으로 하는 프로그램 가이드 방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 채널 탐색창은 채널명 디스플레이 영역; 및
    상기 채널명 디스플레이 영역에 디스플레이되는 채널들을 변경하기 위한 스크롤 버튼들을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 프로그램 가이드 방법.
  4. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 프로그램 탐색창은 시청가능한 프로그램들이 시계 형태로 표시되는 프로그램명 표시 영역; 및
    상기 프로그램 표시 영역에서 표시되는 프로그램의 분량을 각각 지정하는 복수의 시간 설정 버튼들을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 프로그램 가이드 방법.
