Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an external drug for skin effective in essentially preventing or curing chapped skin, by using a specific known compound having an effect to radically improve the water-retaining capability of a corneous layer and optionally a surfactant. CONSTITUTION:The objective external drug for skin contains (A) a compound of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are 10-26C straight- or branched-chain saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group) (e.g. a compound wherein both R<1> and R<2> are n-C10H21) or contains the compound A and (B) a surfactant [especially preferably nonionic surfactants, among which glyceryl ether of formula II (R is 8-24C alkyl) is most preferable: the amount of the surfactant is preferably 0.1-5% based on the whole composition]. The amount of the compound of formula I in the whole composition is preferably 0.1-20wt.% in the case of emulsion-type agent and 5-25wt.% in the case of oily agent.
