Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable sealing performance to be maintained for a long period of time by providing magnetic fluid between a shaft and pole pieces, and by so constituting that the pole pieces are made of a porous magnetic material and are impregnated with oily liquid of magnetic fluid. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic flux produced by a permanent magnet 1 constitutes a magnetic circuit passing through one side of pole pieces 2, a rotating body 7, the other side of the pole pieces 2, and the permanent magnet 1, and a magnetic fluid 3 having been composed by mixing magnetic powder into liquid such as ether oil and hydrocarbon oil is arranged between the rotating body 7 and pole pieces 2 so as to be trapped by magnetic flux, so that the rotating shaft can be perfectly sealed. And, the pole pieces 2 are made up of a porous magnetic material, into which oily liquid of the magnetic fluid 3 is impregnated so as to enable the replenishment of oily liquid. Thus, while the oily liquid of magnetic fluid 3 decreases during long use, it permeates through the pole pieces 2, enabling sealing performance to be maintained for a long period of time.
