Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the detection accuracy by only setting the level of a detector by installing a hopper for housing the long paper wound onto a roll form and a reflection type photoelectric detector opposed to the side edge of the paper slightly over the bottom surface of the hopper and detecting the presence of the paper. CONSTITUTION:When the quantity of the paper 3 left in a hopper 1 is sufficient, the light beam transmitted from an photoelectric detector 5 is reflected by the paper 3, and the reflection light is received by the photoelectric detector 5, and a signal of the presence of paper is formed. As printing proceeds, the left quantity of the paper 3 reduces, and when a taking-up core 2 attached at the terminal of the paper 3 is pulled up by the paper 3, the photoelectric detector 5 outputs a signal showing exhaustion of paper. Since the outermost peripheral part of the paper 3 is always supported onto the bottom surface of the hopper 1, the detection accuracy of the paper 3 can be improved by the simple assembly work in setting the level of the photoelectric detector 5 from the bottom surface of the hopper 1.
