Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform sufficient agitation and to reduce dead toner without any hindrance to the replacement of a toner cartridge by providing a means which performs control according to the detection result of a position detecting means so that a toner agitating member stops when outside the toner cartridge. CONSTITUTION:The position detecting means for the toner agitating member 3 consists of an actuator 8 and a sensor 9, an actuator 8 is added on the rotary shaft of the agitating member 3 where no toner is supplied, e.g. outside a case 1a, and its tip shields the optical path of the sensor 9 fixed on the flank of the case 1a. The sensor 9, therefore, detects the member 3 right before the toner agitating member 3 enters the cartridge 2 and the toner agitating member 3 stops securely at a distance from the cartridge 2. Further, the toner agitating member 3 has a long arm and the operation range by its rotation extends to inside the cartridge 2, so there is a few parts where agitation is impossible. Consequently, the agitation is carried out sufficiently without any hindrance to the replacement of the cartridge and no dead toner is generated.
