Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the upgrading of measuring resolutions, by arranging a reference oscillator, a second oscillator, a gate circuit, a coincidence detection gate circuit and the like. CONSTITUTION:When a start signal A is inputted into a reference oscillator 1, the oscillator 1 starts its oscillation at a frequency F to input a first clock pulse C thereof 1 into a gate circuit 3, a coincidence detection gate circuit 4 and a carry circuit 6. The circuit 3 lets the pulse C pass until a stop signal B is inputted and inputs an output pulse E into an OR gate 8. When the signal B is inputted into a second oscillator 2, it starts its oscillation at a frequency a bit higher than that F of the oscillator 1 and inputs a second clock pulse D into the circuit 4, which 4 compares phases of the pulses C and D and lets the pulse D pass until the phase of the pulse D delayed advances ahead of that of the pulse C or coincides therewith. A second counter 5 counts the pulse D to measure time corresponding to a time difference between the signal C and the pulse E thereby achieving higher measuring resolutions.
