Abstract
PURPOSE:To stably obtain a small diameter cast billet having uniform diameter for long time by increasing/decreasing at least either one side of drawing speed of the cast billet drawing from a mold and cooling water quantity to the cast billet to control diameter of the drawn cast billet. CONSTITUTION:The mold 2 arranging exothermic body 1 is fitted below the molten metal 4 surface at the side wall in a casting furnace 3 and the cooling device 5 is arranged near outlet of the mold 2 and the casting furnace 3 side is heated near the solidified interface 8 of the inner face in the mold 2. By supplying the molten metal 4 into the casting furnace 3 from a melting furnace, the molten metal is poured in the mold 2. On the other hand, the caat billet 6 drawing from the outlet of the mold 2 is cooled by injecting cooling water controlling water temp. from a water tank with a cooling device 5 and the molten metal 4 brought into contact with the cast billet 6 in the mold 2 is solidified by this action and the cast billet 6 is continuously drawn by pinch rolls. By this method, control of the cast billet diameter can be obtd. and the long length cast billet having uniform quality can be obtd. for long time.
